Great Hair Dryer

| I bought this item because I was going to Europe for a month. I didn't want the hassle of using a voltage converter because you can only use one electric item at a time, unless you buy more than one converter kit. You do need a plug adaptor, (these are relatively inexpensive), then you just switch the voltage, plug it in and it works great. I used it in Switzerland, France and Italy. When I came home to the States I just switched the voltage back and I now use it at home. It is small and takes up very little space in the suitcase. I would recommend it for anyone in need of a hair dryer traveling abroad. |

The Andis 33805 Micro Turbo 1600W Dual Voltage Hair Dryer is a great little personal grooming appliance. It has two settings: Low and High. I use High almost exclusively, even though I have fine, short, grey hair because I don't like to dawdle over grooming in the morning. Its dual voltage selections (125V/250V) would come in handy if travelling (with an added plug adapter). High produces a rapid stream of air that quickly heats up and stays at a steady, moderately high temperature. Low is appropriate if you spend more time styling with some degree of heat--producing a nice smooth and fuller result. However, I'm a Type-A character who wants the job done pronto, so this is my machine of choice. All dryers sound a little loud right in your own ear, but a family member says that the Andis is quieter than the Sunbeam I recently replaced.
I bought this device to replace a Sunbeam compact dryer, which replaced another Sunbeam, which was preceded by at least two Conairs, and a parade of various compact (mostly) dryers over the last 32 years. This is the BEST of the lot. I actually gambled and bought two at once because compact dryers are getting hard to find now, and my confidence has been rewarded.
If you are looking for a quick solution to get going in the morning after your shower, look no further. This one's a winner! |

| Having recently broken my wrist and also having hand function issues, this is the perfect dryer for me. I also loved the price and it is supposed to be a high quality dryer that should last for years. So what else could you want? I have never used more than high and never use those cool shots or ionic type dryers. This fits my needs perfectly. Love it! |

| I needed a travel dryer and wanted something small, yet powerful, as I have long hair. Even though it does not fold, it takes up less space than the folding 'travel' dryers. This is the smallest dryer I have seen, yet it has more airflow and a hotter temperature (on High), than some full size models I have used. I am very pleased with my purchase. |

| I replaced a Conair 1600 which was used daily for several years and finally died. I bought this based on the numerous good Amazon reviews and because some have said that the 1850 watt dryers might not work outside the U.S. Delivery was swift. The dryer feels substantial and well built. It dries more quickly than the old Conair without hair looking like I stuck my finger in a socket. As was mentioned before, this will dry anything short of a wookie very quickly. Highly recommended. |

| I brought this hairdryer to Argentina and Uruguay and it worked perfectly. Now that I'm home, I still use it because it dries my extremely thick hair pretty quickly. The size is perfect for packing in a suitcase and storing in small bathrooms. This is my second one of these hair dryers. The last one smoked and died out after a couple of years. Considering the price and how well it works, I'd definitely recommend it. |

| I first discovered this little gem of a hairdryer at our condo. while on vacation near Orlando. I was so impressed, I ordered one when I got home and use it as a spare when I go to the gym. There's a lot of power in this little dryer; two speeds - high and low. I prefer high and my hair (which is fairly long and thick) dries very quickly and seems to wave extra nicely with this dryer. I love it! |

| The Andis 33805 Micro Turbo is easy to use, moves a lot of air, and packs just as easily as a folding travel hair dryer. It's extremely well constructed and in comparison to my previous folding travel hair dryer, the quality of everything from the breaker plug to switch in the handle, far exceeds my previous unit. Could be used as a everyday hair dryer and takes up very little space. |

| I've had my Andis 33805 Micro Turbo 1600W hair dryer for more than 2 years. I first tried it at a spa and loved it. I had never heard of Andis, but after using it for a week, I was sold on the brand. It's small, compact, light, easy to use, and very powerful. I like it so much that I don't want to risk not being able to replace it when my current one finally dies (unfortunately they all do at some point) and have just purchased 2. The price is great - $13.99 and purchasing 2 qualified me for free shipping. For a basic, well-made powerful dryer that's light and easy to maneuver, I haven't found any better. |

| I recently bought two of these hair dryers, one for each bathroom. I love the size and they are light weight. I have found the high speed works well to start the drying process and then finish with the low speed. It drys fast and isn't as noisy as some dryers. I am very happy with the product so far. Haven't had it long enough to know how well it will last yet. The price was certainly right, too. |

This is a simple and effective dryer for those who are space-conscious and don't want any frills. The low setting is only useful for people with short hair as it is little more than a breeze (which works pretty well for my hair). The high setting is powerful and would dry anything but a wookie in a fairly short time. Great for travel as it is light and compact. It does make a good bit of noise on high.
Not perfect, but definitely worth the price! |

Very good compact hair dryer
|
| Review Date: September 20, 2006 |
| Reviewer: Beth Cholette, Upstate NY USA |
I purchased this hair dryer for an unusual reason: my old 1875 watt Conair was actually too much wattage for my bathroom (the circuit kept tripping), so I was actually looking for a dryer with LESS wattage. However, I didn't want to sacrifice power, as I hoped not to have to devote any additional drying time to my shoulder-length hair.
So far, I've been pleased with this hair dryer. It does seem a bit louder than my previous model--not obnoxiously so, just a higher, more concentrated fan noise. The dryer is extremely light and compact; it's actually smaller than my folding travel dryer. It is very basic, with a choice of high/low settings only (there is no heat/cool option), but it seems to dry my hair just as efficiently as my old higher-wattage dryer.
UPDATE November 2007: Unfortunately, we had to stop using this hair dryer after about a year. We found that it would cut off in the middle of use, necessitating turning the unit off and re-starting. Cleaning the air filter sometimes helped, but this problem gradually got worse until the dryer was virtually unusable. When we unplugged it, we saw that the connections had actually started to melt! So, I'm sorry to say that I can no longer recommend this hair dryer--it's back to Conair brand for me. I am also decreasing my rating to 3-star; I would make it even lower, but I suspect that we may have a problem with our bathroom outlet which contributed to the hair dryer's early demise. |
Two settings: Too High and Too Low
|
| Review Date: January 20, 2009 |
| Reviewer: A Customer, USA |
I am getting the funny smell on "high" as others have described. In addition to the high heat setting possibly being too much for the hardware to handle, it's also hotter than I can handle.
The fan speed and temperature are linked, as there is only one switch. The low speed is too low, but you have to use high heat to use the higher speed. |

I bought this little dryes for a trip in Brazil, but I tried first at my home in US. I used it twice and it performed okay. However, the two time I used it, it created a smell like something was burning, which made me scared of fire or some kind explosion, especially because I was drying my 3 year old daughter should length hair. So, I am not sure if this produt is like that or my dryer is defective.
Please, anyone with the same smelly dryer??????? |
Misleading Information
|
| Review Date: July 25, 2007 |
| Reviewer: Neil T. Odonnell, USA |
| Yes, this hairdryer does have switchable voltage to work in both the US and abroad. However, what they fail to tell you is that not only do you need to buy and adapter to go from the unit to the proper outlet size, but you need an additional adapter to go into the wall. For those that have never traveled abroad this could be very frustrating. All in all my wife was satified in it's drying ability and ease of packing as it does not take up a lot of space (leaving her more space for that 5th pair of shoes that were so essential). |

| Bought this for European travel plans. Tried it once and it seemed to work well, but does not fit my needs, so I will be returning it. I use a blow dryer to style my hair and usually use a dryer with a longer barrel. The shorter barrel on this dryer made the airflow blow my hair all around, preventing me from styling. The longer barrel lets me concentrate the airflow to the area I am styling. For just getting your hair dry, this one is probably fine. |

I would not even consider this something worthy of packing to go on a trip. I'm going to send it back and keep my nice hair dryer which is just a little bit bigger. |

| I bought this dryer to take on a European vacation with me. I was thrilled with the size when it arrived. I used it a few times in the States before I left and it worked great here. When I got to Europe, I tried to change the voltage on it and was totally disappointed. The voltage changer looks like you would use a coin or a screw driver to turn it. When I turned the knob, it fell out of the appliance completely revealing that it wasn't attached to anything within the appliance!! It was just a hole with a little black plug that seemed to be put there to make it look like it would change the voltage. Of course, as soon as my traveling companion plugged it in the 250 volt outlet, it began to smoke. What a rip off!!! I have hair that must be styled and I had to buy a hair-dryer to use while in Europe. I would never recommend this to someone buying it for overseas travel. It simply doesn't change voltage. |
