Best home cleaning product I've ever purchased - worth every penny!
|

| Reviewer: Jonathan Appleseed, |
The other night my dog got into the cat's litter box (I use Fresh Step crystals - those crystals don't sit well in a dogs stomach) and she must have had a real fancy feast. I awoke to her vomiting all over my freshly dry cleaned comforter, and when I got up saw piles of diarrhea and more vomit in two bedrooms and two bathrooms. I'm thinking to myself, "This girl planned this," because just three days ago I had my carpeting professionally cleaned.
I didn't have time to do anything more than wipe up as much of the diarrhea and vomit as I could (and to tend to Joon's stomach, of course), as I was running late for an appointment. While I was out, I remembered seeing a commercial for this product, so on the way home, I picked it up.
When I had finished collecting any of the refuse that had dried while I was out, I approached this with skepticism. After all, it is a little difficult to believe that all you have to do is set the unit down over the stain, press a button, and then walk away.
But that's all you have to do. I was amazed at the simplicity of the design, and how easy it is to disconnect the collection and solution tanks. On the solution tank, Bissell has two sets of markings: one for use with their OxyGen2 product (which I haven't used yet), water, and formula; and another for water and formula alone. Those markings are very clear, and are a welcome design. There are three buttons to press: one for regular surface stains; another for set-in stains, and another to allow for manual use with the hose. When I pressed the surface stain button, I watched for a while as the unit switched between spray, suction, and brush functions. I have to say that watching the product work through the "Hands Free Cleaning Window" was pretty, er, cool. (Yeah, so I'm a dork. )
I walked away for a moment, and then heard the unit beep, indicating that it was done. I'm hearing impaired, and have a difficult time with high tones. I wasn't expecting to hear this, but I did - as clear as a bell - and I was at the opposite end of the apartment. I approached the unit with skepticism, but when I lifted it off the spot, the stains were gone. I proceeded to set the unit down on all of the spots throughout the apartment, coming back to it every time it beeped. It cleaned every spot.
This was by far the most pleasant, and the least physically exhausting experience I've ever had with a so-called steam or deep cleaner - and that "least physically exhausting" part is a big one for me.
Still skeptical, though, I thought to myself: Just see when it dries; the stains won't really be gone. This morning, however, every single spot had dried, and there wasn't an issue with the carpet feeling stiff due to soapiness.
As an aside, and as a comment to another review: This unit wasn't built or designed to clean an ENTIRE area rug, or, of course, anything larger. That's the purvey of large steam cleaners. It's called "SpotBot" for a reason. And it executes perfectly.
EDIT 8/22/07: The same dog got into something else, and left a mess of vomit and diarrhea all over the apartment. Again. (No, I'm not trying to poison my dogs, and this doesn't happen often.) Some of the diarrhea had occurred in the night, and it was stiff and wouldn't rub out using the hand brush. But using the hands-free option got the job done.
I feel very badly for my dog, of course, but at the same time am thankful to have had this unit. It made a world of difference. Every pet owner should have one.
ALSO, 2 TIPS for those who don't think the hands-free option retrieves enough water during its cycle:
1) After using the hands-free, detach the manual hose and use that suction, or;
2) Empty the solution tank, and run the hands-free option again. No water/formula will eject, so you'll have a couple of minutes of "pure" suction.
EDIT 8/24: For those interested, my dog is now fine. :-) |
Fantastic Machine ... I can't imagine having a pet without it !!

A few reviewers were not impressed with this machine and I can only theorize that it is because they either had bad luck and got one that just happened to be defective, or they weren't using it correctly or something along those lines. This machine is worth every penny ... and trust me at over $100 for a portable machine I wasn't sure that would be true when I bought it. But with an aging pet that suddenly started having lots of accidents on my new carpet I would lost my mind without this machine.
Before purchasing this machine I tried cleaning a few spots with a spray bottle of cleaner and doing the wet sponge spray and rub routine they recommended and all I did was make a big sloppy mess that was still stained. I tried this machine and it worked like a charm. It's easy to use, fairly easy to clean up after using it, and it does a fantastic job on those small spots that don't quite warrant a big full size machine or a professional. Best of all it's automatic ... fill it with solution, set it on the stain, hit a button and it does everything itself ... a very nice feature when you get woken up to stains or accidents at 3 AM.
I would concede that it does use a fair amount of cleaning solution, so in that respect it isn't exactly cheap to use if you have a lot of large and frequent stains, but you can't beat it for quality of performance ... I think it does a better job than even my Bissel Upright steam cleaner! If you have pets or children with new carpet this machine is a must. I even recommended it to my brother when he got a new Lab puppy and he called me to thank me and tell me it was a lifesaver at his house as well.
I don't often write reviews raving about products, but this machine deserves all the kudos it gets. And it's got a Consumer Reports Best Buy rating as well. |

Bissell 1200A SpotBot Pet Hands-Free Compact Deep Cleaner, Blue Illusion
I just bought the Pet Spotbot with the combination of Bissell Oxygen2 and Pet Odor Stain Remover. The product arrived on the day my dog got sick while I was at work. I literally came home to 25 piles of poop and diarrhea in the bedroom. It was everywhere and I almost cried. I didn't remember what I had ordered and thankfully, when I opened the box, it was the spotbot! What a lifesaver! By following the easy instructions, I was able to clean up ever spot completely with no remnants of stains! |
SpotBot lifted oily/tar spots that nothing else could do!
|

Somehow someone tracked in some type of oily/tarry substance onto our carpet over a year ago. We tried spray carpet cleaners & everything else you could think of. Finally, right before the holidays I tried using our full-size Hoover carpet cleaner with slight (to no) success. Then I tried hand scrubbing (again) resulting in the 1-2 inch spots spreading into 5-8 inch spots (and much hilarity among the male members of our family, who called them "oil spills"). Now it was either cut out the pieces of carpet or buy a SpotBot and try it one more time.
SpotBot worked (key miraculous music). I used it on almost every stain on our 13 yr old carpet. The huge oily/tarry slicks are about 98% removed (and very hard to see), leaving a very slight different color to the carpet which was more than we'd ever hoped for. Most of the stains are completely gone & a few that we'd expected to be with us forever are faded to the point of almost invisibility. Since the carpet is a little over 13 years old and we live on a lake and have always had pets a lot of you will realize how amazing this is.
We love the SpotBot - the results were far more than we ever expected and we'd definitely buy it again. Was it a miracle worker and our carpet is pristine? No - but that would truly have been a miracle. Is our carpet far, far cleaner and looks better than we ever expected? Absolutely.
Our favorite part - set the SpotBot down on the stain and go do something else until it beeps! How cool is that?
Note: These stains were TOUGH and some required multiple deep cycle scrubbings to remove. Other, regular stains came out one deep or light cycle, depending on the stain. In some of the reviews that indicated that the SpotBot didn't work for them it may be possible that their stain may have needed more than one cycle. Let's face it - some stains are just pains;) |

Not only does this work wonders in the automatic plop and go mode, but the manual mode is amazing for spots, upholstery, whatever. With two cats and a dog in a small, carpeted house, it has been a god-send.
Even my mother says "Don't forget the SpotBot" when I go up to clean her house. She was amazed at how it handled the cat yurk spots.
This is the best appliance I've ever purchased.
I recommend it without reservation. |

Up until we purchased the Bissell SpotBot, I was completely frustrated with our new lab puppy! I was definately not happy about what he was doing on our new carpets! I wasted so much time trying to scrub out "oopsies" and I only wish I would have known about this product 4 months ago! Thanks to this wonderful product, even the stains from months ago that I thought were hopeless are now gone! Luckily, the puppy is growing fast & learning to not to mess with my carpet!
As far as circle marks that are left on the carpet, I can say that those are present when the cycle is first completed but as soon as I vaccuumed, they were gone. Also, if you make sure that the return container (with the dirty water) doesn't get too full, there doesn't seem to be as much of a problem with excess dampness. I did get a very wet area one time when I let that container get too full, but not since!

Really Works - Even on set in pet stains!!

We recently rescued dog who wasn't totally housetrained and she "blessed" several of the rooms in our new home. We caught most right away, but didn't find one in our dining room until it had nearly dried. I was fearful the stain/smell had totally soaked through the carpet and pad and would never completely come out.
We purchased the SpotBot after seeing the reviews for the 1200A and 1200B models and are THRILLED with the way it works! The stain(s) are completely gone, no smell or residue on the carpet. We used the Oxy Gen2 cleaner along with the Bissel pet stain/odor remover and it completely wiped out the stains/smell.
One tip - if your carpet is too damp after the suction runs, just use the manual attachment to suck up any remaining water. I went over the spot several times from multiple directions and the carpet was nearly dry when I finished.
Once the area was totally dry I vacuumed and it blended right back into the rest of our carpet - no one will ever know but me...and anyone reading this review!!

Worked wonders on my couches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| We have tan micro fiber couches and a 1 and 3 year old. So needless to say that our furniture takes quite a beating with juice, food, and recently throw up when both the kids got the stomach flu. We have gotten them cleaned where they come out looking brand new but it costs a couple hundred dollars to clean the entire set when its really only the seats that get dirty, then it seems like within days they have more stains. My mom got us this for Christmas and I used the wand to clean them myself and they look great! I am not crazy about the cleaner that comes with it. It left the fabric a little stiff and when I got a little on my hands and feet it burned my skin so I was concerned abot it getting on my kids. I just started using my own cleaner which worked better. My only problem with the actual machine is that the sprayer is pretty broad so you tend to spray more than just the area you were aiming for, but that can be fixed by holding it closer. This cleaner is such a life saver and it has already proved it is worth the price by cleaning our couches and 2 more chairs. Plus now I will be able to maintain them better instead of having to wait 6 months between cleanings. EXCELLENT BUY!! |

I haven't been too impressed with Bissell products until now. I purchased this a few months ago, as our partially house-trained rescue dog became very fond of one corner. Just this morning, I dropped a full cup of steaming hot coffee on our beige rug--out came the SpotBot and I remembered I needed to write this review!
The SpotBot takes about two minutes to go through its lightest cycle. It cleans very well--so well that it leaves clean little "crop circles" in dirtier areas. The only thing it hasn't gotten out is a sticky, adhesive-type stain that even Goo Gone can't move.
I can get about 4-5 cycles done before I have to empty and refill. I've been experimenting with other cleaners with good results, namely Out Spot and powdered Oxy Clean. It works very well with plain old hot water, too. This has definitely been a good buy! |

I was apprehensive about another bissel product, having already owned a small carpet cleaner. This vacuum works amazingly well though, much to my surprise. So far I've cleaned an old cat vomit stain, a bunny blood stain (he got in a tussle with our cat, but fought back and won. He's fine, don't worry :) and it got both stains out on the first try. I suspected it was more the water/brush/spray technique that worked, so I tried cleaning a stain without solution, but blotting with a clean paper towel revealed the stain on the surface of the carpet. So you do really need to use solution. One tank full of clean water will allow 3 cleaning cycles on the set in stain setting. I'm now using a ginormous leftover bottle of hoover cleaning solution which I've had sitting around for a while, so I'll probably be complaining about the high cost of solution when I need to repurchase. Right now I'm happy though, and my carpets are cat vomit stain free!
UPDATE: I am now using this machine with hot water only. A carpet cleaning professional suggested that, except for very difficult stains, I should use hot water only to avoid leaving residue in the carpet. The machine works very well without solution. I use the hottest water I can get straight from the tap. |

I received my SpotBot Pet just today and have already eliminated 3 stubborn set-in pet stains. This little powerhouse removed spots from my carpet which I thought would be difficult, if not impossible to do.
It was super easy to use. I read the instructions and began my hands-free spot removal!! Amazingly, the stains was removed with NO effort on my part. I did nothing but position the Bot over the stain and walked away. That was IT!!!
These pet stains were "gifts", my cat's hairball puke.. Ewww.. I did clean them, mind you, in the traditional sense. On my hands & knees with spray cleaner, scrub brush and towel which achieved results that were less than desirable!! You could still see them on the carpet!! I thought these hideous "gift" remnants would be part of my permanent decor.
So, I used the "set-in" setting along with the INCLUDED samples of the Oxygen2 cleaner and Pet Odor/Stain cleaner that Bissell provided. These two cleaners combined with the Bot's scrubbing prowess not only saved my carpet, it "salvaged" my fabulous yet very shabby chic ;-) decor!!!
I would highly recommend this product to my pet-loving family and friends with "babies" prone to having accidents or leaving "gifts"!!

This product is a puppy owner's dream come true!

I am the proud owner of 2 boston terriers: a 4 yr old who pretty much understands the rule of going to the bathroom outside, and a 5 month old rebellious puppy who thinks my living room carpet is her grassy field. I found this product while wandering the aisles of a store looking for yet another bottle of spray carpet cleaner and a jumbo pack of paper towels.
I thought I was seeing it wrong... just put it down and walk away!?! This can't be right! Oh, but it is. What a fabulous creation! I brought it home last night and used it no less than 6 times already. I stood there fascinated and watched the first few cycles expecting it to blow up bc it was too good to be true. Honestly, you NEED this machine if you have puppy training issues, or house parties, or if you have carpet at all!
To address some of the complaints I've seen on here: Some people here have complained about the noise, I say it's much quieter than if you had to lug out the 30 lb. carpet cleaner and there's a very convenient PAUSE/RESUME button if a phone call comes in while you are using it. As for it using a lot of solution, I'm sure if I compare how much I have been spending on paper towels and expensive spray cleaners and NOT getting anything clean (or smells out!) then the cleaning solution is a steal to me. And remember, its a SPOTbot. It's not going to clean your whole carpet. This is exactly made for what it says- spots- pretty large ones too, so you have to be reasonable as to what you want it to do.
My only complaint is that it does leave my carpet a bit wet- but thanks for the tips on here, I'll just use the hose attachment to suck up the excess moisture!
Best part- my puppy is scared of the noise. Maybe she'll realize that everytime she pees on my carpet, the big scary monster comes out and she'll just learn to stop. (HAHA!) Thank you Bissell! |

| With two new puppies in the house my carpet is suffering. I've tried to keep up with the large carpet cleaner and finally bought the spot bot. On shag carpet the cleaning is nothing short of phenomenal. My only problem is that in the one room with commercial type flat carpet my large cleaner apparently didn't do a very thorough job. When the spot bot was completed with it's cycles on pet pee spots, the result has been extremely clean spots. Crop circles of clean carpte!! The rest of the carpet is uniformly soiled and I didn't notice. Now I've got to figure out how to get the **rest** of the carpet as clean as the spot bot areas. |

| I have a pet bunny, and though he's litterbox trained and very good, occasionally there are accidents on our nice, expensive cream/oatmeal colored berber carpet. After manually cleaning up a couple of accidents with Folex (another great product) when he didn't go back to the litter box to pee, I started doing research on the internet. After a good amount of research and reading a lot of reviews, I ordered SpotBot Pet (same price as regular green SpotBot) and it works beautifully. The instructions are simple to follow and it is a very user-friendly machine. I stayed in the room the first time I used it and watched with fascination as it 'did its thing' cleaning up the urine stain. The carpet does get wet, so I followed advice of other reviewers and used the manual hose/brush to vacuum up the excess water. Within a few hours the carpet was dry, no 'crop circle' rings were left and the urine stain was completely gone. This is a great little machine, even if the formulas aren't cheap and you use a decent amount, they're not unreasonably priced. Plus, it's well worth it to have the stains gone so easily (and cheaper than carpet cleaning). I highly recommend this product -- it really works great, and deserves the high ratings given by so many reviewers on a variety of sites. |
Every pet owner should have at least one of these!

The SpotBot is incredible! These super machines do exactly what they say they do. Very simple, just fill it with liquid and set it on the stain. In a matter of minutes your stain is gone. I HIGHLY recommend these for anyone that has pets. It will save you thousands in carpet cleaning bills. I'd buy an extra so you can have one for each room or level of your home.

This is the best investment I have ever made in terms of home maintenance! I have two Mini Australian Shepherds with sensitive stomachs and they're constantly getting into things such as bugs, creatures, plants, etc. that make them sick. After using Resolve, OxyClean and spending hours scrubbing and trying to get stains out, I finally broke down and bought the Spot Bot with very low expectations. I love my Spot Bot! It took out EVERY stain in my carpet, including ones that had been sitting for 6 months where you could still see the stain, plus the white ring around it where I had tried to clean it.
A friend of mine recently had an issue with her dog piddling on her roommate's white sofa and after calling several professional cleaners that told her they didn't work on urine, became concerned she'd have to buy a replacement sofa. She tried baking soda, vinegar and OxyClean to get the stain out with no luck. I told her to try my Spot Bot and with one tank of cleaner (Pet Stain and OxyGen2), GONE! Neither of us could believe it, but now is going to get her own.
The only things that would be great in terms of perfecting the design are that when you're in manual mode using the hose and unhook the parts to wrap the hose back around the Bot, it leaks fluid every time. Also, the beep can get annoying if you are unable to get right back to it, but are within earshot. However, these small annoyances wouldn't prevent me from recommending this product to absolutely everyone! It is truly amazing!! |

I purchased the SpotBot today and I'm very pleased. It works VERY well. I don't have any pets, but I have three children and I cannot believe that I didn't have something like this before. It's very convenient to be able to press the button and go do something else while the stain is cleaned. So far, I've been able to get out all of the stains that I've attempted, including yogurt and red wine (don't ask!).
The SpotBot Pet and the SpotBot are the same machine. The only difference between the two is the color and the sample cleaner that comes with the machine. The Pet version includes cleaner that focuses on odor and urine, and the SpotBot comes with Little Green cleaner.
So far, these are the plusses of the SpotBot:
1. It's easy to use. There is no assembly; all you have to do is fill the tank with water and cleaner. It's very easy to use.
2. It WORKS! It does a great job of getting stains out.
3. It's not necessary to use the full amount of cleaner. Use half of what they recommend.
4. It doesn't require any effort!! Yay!
5. It's well worth the purchase price. I bought mine at Bed, Bath & Beyond. It was priced at 129.99 and I used a 20% off coupon.
I have no complaints about the SpotBot. I love it! Here are a couple of things that might bother other people.
1. It does go through cleaner pretty quickly. You only need to use half of the recommended amount, which should help. I purchased a large bottle of cleaner for $3.99. It's well worth it.
2. It is a little loud. I don't think it's too bad, but some people may be more sensitive.
I'm trying, but I can't really think of anything else. It's a wonderful product!

The one thing everyone should know about carpet cleaners
|
| Review Date: February 8, 2009 |
| Reviewer: James D. Bottger, huber heights, OH |
Though I don't own a Spotbot (yet), I am in the market for a new carpet cleaner. As a pet owner, I have owned several carpet cleaners of all different types ranging from the compact Little Green, to large, cumbersome upright units. The reason I end up replacing units is because after time and use they simply stop dispensing fluids. While it may be feesable to have them repaired once or twice, at some point there comes a time when it no longer makes sense to have them repaired because the accumulated repair costs will eventually exceed the purchase price of a new unit.
99% of the time my carpet cleaners are used to clean up pet vomit or urine and the one thing I have learned about carpet cleaners, and this applies to each and every one of them regardless of brand or type, is that they work best when used this way:
Step 1. You obviously want to clean up any solid pieces with paper towels so all you'll be using the carpet cleaner to clean up is liquid of some form. You don't want to be sucking up any solid pieces into your carpet cleaner.
Step 2. Use the hand attachment first WITHOUT applying any type of cleaning solution to get as much of the undesired liquid picked up. Applying cleaning solution to an area that's already saturated with urine only serves to create a diluted solution of urine.
Step 3. Once you've removed as much of the undesire liquid as possible, then apply your favorite carpet cleaning solution to the soiled area. DO NOT USE A CARPET CLEANING SOLUTION IN THE CARPET CLEANER ITSELF UNLESS IT HAS TWO SEPARATE SUPPLY TANKS, ONE FOR CLEANING SOLUTION, AND ONE FOR JUST PLAIN WATER. I know the instructions tell you to add cleaning solutions to the unit, but unless the unit has two separate tanks, applying cleaning solution to carpeting without rinsing it out ends up being a dirt magnet. If your carpet cleaner only has a supply tank and a pickup tank, then the only liquid you should be putting in the unit is plain, clean, HOT water.
Step 4. Now it's time to use whatever brushes are available on the unit (either on the unit itself, or on the hand-held attachment) to agitate the cleaning solution into the carpet. Make sure to vacuum up as much of the solution as you can get.
Step 5. Now you apply the plain, clean water you filled the unit with to rinse the cleaning solution from the carpet. Remember, if you only use cleaning solution and you don't rinse it out, the cleaning solution left in your carpet will actually ATTRACT dirt.
I know this is more work than simply following the instructions provided with the carpet cleaners, but I see so many people who aren't happy with the performance of their units, but it really isn't because the units themselves are poor performers. It all comes down to bad procedures. Then again, I'm the type of person who always says "if you're going to bother doing it in the first place, you might as well do it the right way". That certainly applies to carpet cleaning. |

In a hurry to get my dog to her vet appointment on time yesterday, I put her right in the back seat of my car, skipping my usual step of putting down a blanket. Halfway there, I caught a whiff of a horrible, horrible smell and knew what had happened before I even turned around. Even the smell could not prepare me for what I saw when I DID turn around.
It looked like my dog had not pooped for a week, and the result was smeared all over my light beige cloth seats. Not firm stools, not a couple of little piles ... it was a disaster.
I cleaned up as much as I could at the vet's office with paper towels, left my dog there for her procedure, and went straight to an auto detailer. They seemed amused that I would even suggest they take on such a task.
Next stop, my local big-box store to figure out what I could buy to clean this up as well as I could. I had already called my husband crying because I was going to have to get my car reupholstered. I just wanted to get it cleaned up well enough to be able to stand to drive it in the meantime.
There were only a couple of small shampooing-type machines. This one had "pet" in the name, and this was definitely an epic-sized pet mess, so I lugged it out to my smelly car and got home as quickly as possible.
My husband had left his office and had arrived home to survey the damage by the point. He read the directions while I quickly put water in the machine and got started. Using the large brush on the bottom was not going to be a good option for the nooks and crannies in the back seat, so I turned on the machine and held my hand up to the manual attachment to see how much suction it could managed. It seemed pretty wimpy, but I went to work.
With a first pass of just water using the manual attachment, then hitting the seats with an enzyme cleaner, then finishing off with another pass using the manual attachment and adding the sample cleaners to the water, I am happy to report that we COMPLETELY cleaned the mess. There is not even a hint of a stain.
Now I can't wait to try out the automatic settings on the stains our other dog has left on the carpets in the house! |

I love this machine. I had some reservations due to the price and some of the reviews. However, I decided to give it a shot. It was so easy to set up! I pulled out the directions and did not even need to use them! It is so simple to fill, I am not sure why some reviewers had issues. I was very pleased with the quick, and thourough cleaning it does with my puppy's accidents. He is 6 months old and we got off on a bad potty training routine due to a broken leg. (typical curious boy) Then, thanks to horrible Chicago winters he got a tummy bug and had the "runs". The spot bot has not failed me yet! To comment on one reviewer who was dissappointed with having to clean several areas, to me it was no big deal. It is a SPOT bot not a carpet steamer, plus the longest cycle is 6 min long, I set it on the spot, go tend to laundry, dishes, bathing the puppy, or whatever and move it to the next spot when it beeps if needed.
Love love love it! Worth every penny! |

I received my SpotBot Pet as a Christmas gift in 2007. Due to skepticism, I hadn't used it whatsoever. I, like many other reviewers, was trying the bottle cleaner and wash cloth routine.
I have two cats--one has a sensitive stomach and vomits a lot; the other thinks she is a princess who despises being in a multi-cat household, causing her to not use the litterbox like she should (i.e. she pees everywhere).
While we were out of town, Puke Cat vomited a few times on the carpet. Because we were gone, it dried. I decided to try the "surface stain" setting first, just to see how effective it was. I put the SpotBot on the stain (after picking up the solid parts and vaccuuming first), pushed the button, and watched it go. When it was done, I was highly impressed. You'd never know there was ever puke on the carpet. Yes, it left a "crop circle" pattern on the carpet, but every carpet cleaner leaves some kind of tracking similar to a vaccuum. Run your hand over it a few times or just leave it to the natural traffic of the room, and it disappears.
So it works wonders on dried, set-in cat puke. What about urine?
For those who have had problems with the SpotBot getting out urine stains, I can only assume they didn't get to the spot soon enough. Pee Cat urinated on the carpet last night. I blotted up the excess liquid with paper towel and put the SpotBot on the area, using the "set-in stain" cycle just to be sure it cleaned deep enough into the carpet. Worked like a charm, yet again. However, I then discovered an older spot (no way of knowing how old) hidden behind the couch. Again, I used the "set-in" cycle. It got out 85-90% of the stain (and completely got rid of the smell), but because it was so old, it didn't get all of it.
So if you're using the SpotBot on urine, I advise cleaning ASAP. This is common sense. I don't know of any carpet cleaners (save for professional ones) that will completely get out set-in, old urine. Plus, the longer it stagnates, the more likely your padding and wood will become permeated with the urine, making it extremely difficult to get out.
I allowed the older urine spot to dry a bit after cleaning and then tried using the bottle cleaner method except, instead of a wash cloth, I used the SpotBot on the "manual" setting with only water in the cleaner compartment. If you have a light stain and shudder at the cost of the SpotBot cleaning agents, I recommend this method of cleaning. I sprayed the bottle cleaner on, waited 5 minutes or so, then used the hose to rinse AND dry the area. While it did get out a bit more of the stain, the stain still isn't completely gone, and I blame myself for not finding it sooner.
So, all in all, this handy little machine is a wonderful investment for those plagued by small messes. I have yet to be disappointed, and, provided you clean ASAP, I doubt you will be either. It beats cleaning stains the old fashioned (by hand) way hands down (no pun intended). And for someone like me living in an apartment and without a need for a big, cumbersome steam cleaner, it's the optimal solution. I can't imagine life without it. |

| Well, it's hairball season again and I have 2 cats. One just urps a hairball once in a while and likes to go outside to do it. Love that cat! The other one has tons of soft fluffy hair and when she gets a hairball, she leaves ate least 5 piles all over the house and it includes her food. I have 2 Bissell compact cleaners...one battery powered and the other electric. They both do ok but require a lot of elbow grease. Enter the Spotbot. I ordered this after the 1st hairball episode this year (and just 1 month after a knee replacement). I knew I would have a hard time with the other ones as it is hard for me to bend over yet. OMG I love this machine. It does such a good job. I just go from spot to spot, turn it on and in 3 minutes...it's done. Yes, I do get the crop circles but I discovered if you just use the manual part right after and just brush a little with it (no spray)they are less noticeble. So now, when I hear that dreaded urp-urp sound, I don't get all upset and grouchy. I just grab some paper towels for the gross part and my Spotbot. I sure wish I had this years ago when I had a cat with digestive issues. I would have a lot less grey hair now...well, I also had a teen so maybe not. Anyway, it does use a lot of cleaner but is so worth it. And since I like to use hot water, if I have left over soulution in the machine, I just pour it into a measuring cup, microwave it until it is hot and put it back in the machine. Like I said. I love this machine. Update, while I was writing this, I looked over to see Miss Urpy flipping a dead bird into the air in my living room. After I gave the bird a proper burial in my garbage can, I noticed some blood spots on the floor. Spotbot to the rescue (this time with the Oxy-gen added)I bet you think I am making this up...I wish I was. I just had to let everyone know how much I love this machine. I do keep a wad of paper towels under it when it is stored as it leaks a litte. Again, so what. For what it does for me, it is worth it. |

Bissell 1200A SpotBot Pet Hands-Free Compact Deep Cleaner, Blue Illusion
Received my Spotbot within a couple of days...thank you Amazon for such good service.
I have two Chihuahuas that do not like snow, so needless to say, accidents can happen. Oh NO!
My opportunity to use my Spotbot came shortly after it arrived. What a wonderful cleaner. I use my Kirby shampooer for the large jobs...this Spotbot will get the most use. The high quality and ease of use is incredible. I looked as the Amazon reviews and can't understand why all are not A+'s. Remember this product is for spots and small areas, not meant to clean a whole room of dirty carpet.
Amazon's price on this product is great, timely shipping wonderful...
One happy customer,

Great little carpet cleaner

| I have had the spot bot for about 8 months now. I use it on a regular basis, probably 4-5 times a week. I love it. It cleans my carpet very well. It has two buttons one for new stains and one for set in stains. The set in stain button takes about 6 minutes to clean and does use ALOT of cleaner. I have found that this setting is not necessary, as that the other one works just as well if not better. It only takes about 3 minutes, it doesnt use as much cleaner, it doesnt leave the carpet as wet, and still cleans well. It does still leave the carpet pretty wet, however I use the manual hose to get up the extra water. The only complaint I have about it, is when you leave it sitting with cleaner in the tank, it leaks. When I store it I just make sure to take the tank out or to store it empty. Other people who have reviewed the spot bot have comlained about the noise. It is a little noisy but not as much as full size carpet cleaners. It only takes 3 minutes to clean a stain, I can handle a little noise for that short amount of time. Other wise no problems and would absolutely recommend it to anyone. |

I love this machine. I have many, many, many pets and children, and a husband, and a fulltime job outside the home. So anything that will help clean my carpets and not make me have to drag out the steam cleaner is greatly appreciated. It also has the advantage of being small enough to fit on the stairs - unlike my steam cleaner.
I always have it loaded and ready to use, because there is almost always an accident (usually vomit) that needs my attention in the morning before I go to work. It works way better than any pet stain remover I've ever used. All I do is pick up the chunkier parts, put it on the stain and let it run while I get myself ready to go. If there is a second spot or two then I just set it on the addtional area let it run while I'm gone.
While this does not replace an actual steam cleaning, it does help my carpet go much longer between. This isn't meant to house break a puppy (you need an actual steam cleaner). But this is great for owners of adult pets who sometimes vomit(for me this is a daily experience), or have the occasional accident.
I love this so much that I'm buying another one for my mother who has the same pet problems that I do. |

| This machine does an unbelievably great job! I used it on 6' x 6' area of rug that my 4 year old pug decided all of a sudden to use as a his own little bathroom area. I used the manual/hose cleaning feature only because I had such a large area. I was so pleased with the job it did. Not only was it incredibly easy to use, it cleaned and deodorized the carpet. The brush lifted the carpet pile and the whole area looks like new carpet. I combined the pet stain and odor remover along with the oxygen cleaner and the carpet has a nice fresh scent to it now. Clean up was so easy. I just rinsed the flex hose and containers with fresh clean water and all of the pet hair and dirty water came flushing out. I'm not sure why some of the people complained about it leaking and the cleanup, I had none of those problems. I highly recommend this machine for anyone with pets. It's one of the most efficient, compact carpet cleaners I've ever owned. |

I have four dogs in the house. One of them is a puppy and the oldest is fourteen. Needless to say we have had to use this machine many times. It does a great job for such a small machine. I recommend using the handheld attachment after cleaning the spot to suck up more of the liquid in the carpet(the spot will dry quicker). I also don't put the cleaner in the machine, only water, because I use "Nature's Miracle"(enzyme cleaner for pet stains), on the carpet first.
This is a great way to clean up spots in between a regular full carpet cleaning. It is lightweight, and very user friendly. |

We have two dogs, and hound and a chihuahua. The small one occasionally has issues overnight, and the larger one will backslide on his training every once in awhile. The SpotBot does an excellent job taking care of these accidents in between professional carpet cleanings (we have the major rooms done every year or two).
On the plus side the SpotBot does exactly what it's supposed to do. It thoroughly cleans small stains (pet or otherwise) on carpets with virtually no effort on my part (hey, you do have to fill it, plug it in, press a button, and empty the waste water when it's done).
As others have noted, it does tend to use a lot of cleaning fluid. I think other reviewers have suggested a way to deal with this. Mix the solution and water in appropriate ratios and put it in a spray bottle. Fill the SpotBot with just hot water when you need to use it. Spray the solution on the spot and get it thoroughly wet, then use the SpotBot normally. Saves on solution and gets the stains out just as well (maybe better since, if you let the solution soak in for a few minutes, it acts as a pretreatment as well).

| It is in the wee hours of the morning, when I find myself having to clean vomit or worse off of the carpet from sick child, dog, or cat, that I start thinking my SpotBot is worth every penny I paid for it and more. It has worked perfectly on both recent and recently discovered (oops) stains, and it is still doing the same great job as it did when I bought it about a year ago. I've been so disappointed with the quality of many pet products that I've purchased over the years that it seems miraculous to find one that actually does what it is supposed to do and does it well. Never thought I'd wax poetic about a little vaccuum, but it is worth it! |

I seriously love this machine. I have three barfy cats and when we moved into a house with very light carpets, I figured I should get something to keep the carpets nice. This machine is so much easier and more effective than trying to clean carpet stains by hand! Every time I use it I love it a little bit more. The Automatic cycle does a fantastic job at getting out big spots, even really dark ones, and the manual hand tool is great for any small splatter spots nearby.
It does leave the carpet fairly wet when you use the automatic cleaning cycle, but I usually blot it with a paper towel afterwards and then let it dry. I've found that you can use a lot less cleaning solution than they recommend (use more water instead). You don't have to use their special brand of solution, either - I've used some of the pet stain cleaners I already keep on hand and it works fine.
If I had one complaint it would be that I don't think there's any way to completely remove the suction hose from the machine and give it a really good rinse. It's getting a little nasty looking in there. |
LOVE IT!

| I'm so glad I bought the Spotbot. We have 4 cats, nothing has gotten out accident and yak stains better than this cleaner. I've tried all kinds of different bottle sprays and they never seem to get it all up and the cats go right back to that area. I've rented the full sized shampooer which worked but is heavy and hard to handle. This is so easy to use, just set it on the spot, push the button, and it does the rest. Even gets out old stains too. If you have pets, this is a must. |

I have two male dogs, one of which is a stubborn terrier who's prone to marking. It's not rare that we'll notice a new spot on the carpet already dry. So cleaning them became a huge problem. Tons of scrubbing which ended up running the way the carpet looked, let alone the fact that it rarely got the stain out.
I used mine for the first time yesterday, and I'm pretty sold on it. I think this could be an excellent complement to a full steam cleaner as it doesn't do a perfect job, but certianly better than I was doing on my hands and knees-often spending way longer than 6 minutes on each stain (which is how long the cleaning cycles last).
It is loud though. A lot louder than expected but again, it's a 6 min cycle and even if I do it twice, or as in a few of the more stubborn stains 3 times it's still a lot less effort than I'd been spending on the carpet. Much better in my opinion. |
Completely Awesome!

| After our dog became very ill, I purchased the SpotBot to clean her messes. I was immediately impressed because it dealt with all the spots without a problem. I also tackled my cat rebelling and peeing and pooping downstairs - got everything, no sweat. What finally pushed me to write a review was tackling some old stains in my daughter's room that had been there when we moved in. I was shocked to find the SpotBot could get those too. WELL worth the money. |

| I can't even begin to tell you how floored (no pun intended) I am by this machine. We have two cats and a dog. Our rugs have spots- sometimes an accident- sometimes a hairball. I just always assumed that part of being a pet owner was replacing things like nice area rugs. I tried to Dirt Devil spotscrubber- don't bother- it is NOTHING compared to the SpotBot. We put the SpotBot on our cream colored hallway runner and all I did was push the button. About 5 minutes later, I picked it up expecting to have to have to do it at least twice in that spot as the stain was so dark. The stain is completely gone. This unit may be more expensive than the cheap Dirt Devil and similar brands but it will save you money in the long run. I can't say enough about how impressed I am with this machine. |

My mother bought this to share between our apartments but now we are considering getting another so we dont have to share!! :) Its exactly what we needed. Living in an apartment space is limited and it fits in the closet, above the washing machine, lots of places. Storage wont be a problem with this unit. As for use, I really set it and just walk away, the kids love watching it and I love that I am not down scrubbing spots myself. Its a stress saver thats for sure!!! Pet stains, kid stains you name it. I even took it over to my grandmothers house who had a 3+ month old COFFEE stain she didn't tell us about. Had not been even blotted up, just dried and left. I thought why not, and set it on the stain and its 100% gone. I was expecting it to start the process and me to finish it. I didn't scrub the stain myself once. I agree with the recommendations about having a dry towel near by when its done to 1) just wipe over the cleaned spot. This will help with the "crop circles" as my husband calls them. and 2) I place the bot on top of the towel so it wont get any excess water any place else.
Make sure you follow the instructions when it says the dirty tank is FULL empty it. Its easy! Dont let it go above or it WILL not suck up anymore water and wont alert you to this and when you go to pick up the bot you have a soaked area of water (and other spots). If this happens (you forget to empty the dirty tank) just empty the tank and then use the manual hose to suck up the water unless you want to run it through a cycle again. Which is fine too.
One lats thing, I also have used this products manual hand held setting to do my sofas. The top of the cushions that my cats lay on. It cleans them really well!!! This things is so versatile! |
I tell this thing I love it.

| Really, I do. It just works. Yeah it gets funky and stinky, but consider what it's picking up. It still does it's job, which keeps me from having to do it which is the point. I don't buy the cleaner that you're supposed to put in the tank - I just spray the mess with Woolite Pet Oxygen Stain & Odor Remover (I got it at Target - works PERFECT) and leave it for a few minutes, fill this with hot water and let it go on surface stain and it has never disappointed me. Sure it leaves circles - its cleaning in a circular motion. They dry and go away. Yeah it leaves the floor damp. It cleans with a decent amount of water - it dries. I have 2 cats and when they barf or when the one misses the cat box, this thing cleans poop stains off the carpet like a pro. It even cleans old stains. I haven't used the hand thing too much so I won't comment on that. But to just sit it on a stain and push GO and walk away - I love it and recommend it and don't know what I'd do without it. |
Worried about Kitty Smells

My cat is very picky about his litter and has a tendency to go outside the box if it's not cleaned everyday. I love my kitty but my apartment was starting to smell like one huge litter box from his "accidents" and I was on the verge of making him an outdoor cat. I've tried almost every product out there to get the smell and satins out but they only worked for a little while or not at all.
I registered for the SpotBot Pet cleaner for my shower hoping that this would finally work. If it didn't at least I wasn't spending money on yet another product that didn't get the job done. I pulled it out last night and IT IS AMAZING! I found the spots with a black light and sprayed them with the pet stain cleaning solution. Immediately, the stain started to fade under the back light. I did a little scrubbing (nothing intense) and dried it with the hose and turned the black light back on. NO MORE STAINS! The smell was completely gone and I felt like crying. I annoyed the heck out of my fiance by gushing about the machine for 20 mins :)
I highly, highly recommend this machine if you love your pet and the smell of clean air. |

I am a stay at home mom with one medium size dog and one very fluffy cat. I read a lot of the reviews and wasn't sure whether to make the purchase or not. A cousin of mine said it was great and I should try it...so I did. Today I put it to work. How I ever lived with pets and carpet without a Spot Bot is beyond me!!! This thing is awesome!
You load up your solution/water, put it on the spot and let it do all the work! So easy!!! I am careful not to slosh it around too much when I move it full of water, and have not had any leaking problems like others have reported. It's SO easy to empty the dirty water, this thing takes hardly any time and takes all the work out of your stains! No more scrubbing on my hands and knees...and now I can leave it to do the dirty work while I play with my son! The Bot does all the work for me.
Other complaints people had were that it leaves the carpet wet....well duh people....do you expect it to blow dry the carpet as well? Sure it leaves the carpet damp...but not any more than it does when I scrub it by hand! So, this is not a big issue, and I do not think it overuses the water, or leaves you a puddle on your floor. It is a reasonable amount of damp for the job done. People also complained that it left circle marks on the carpet. Well, yes, it does work in a circular motion...but not all of the spots I did left a circle-ish mark. The places that did leave a circle are where the carpet is dirty (just from regular wear - I vacuum regularly, so it's not that kind of dirty- just dirty from being walked on so much in shoes)...and the Spot Bot left a CLEAN SPOT on the carpet. LOL The thing does it's job and it does it well! It took out old black (grease I think) stains in our carpet...on the surface setting - 3 minutes! Took out the odor where the pets had "accidents."
I LOVE the Spot Bot, and would recommend it to anyone with pets who have carpet. It is so EASY, FAST, and it WORKS! :) |

In my opinion the SpotBot is a machine I would never be without. I have taken liberties with product measurement and have used other cleaners than the Bissell brand (when I am out of their brand). The only issues I have ever had with "rings" are when I did my own concocting. All I had to do, though, was run a clean water cycle or two to extract any extra solution. I have used the manual method to clean my microfiber sectional. I am truly amazed at how "new" the sectional looks after that. This is a very Versatile and useful machine, and in my opinion worth the money for its performance and reliability. |

| This is a great machine. I've had it for about 6 mos. and have gotten to use it on all sorts of stains and spills on my carpet from ashes, wine, to cat vomit. It has no problems with any spills, they come right out. I tried it on all the set in stains I inherited with the condo and it got many of those out too. A couple were just too tough and I didn't expect it to work on those anyway. I have no probs with it damaging my carpet. Set up and use is very easy. Note, although its compact it is a bit of a heavy machine, shows its power. However, you don't need to move it around very much while you use it. |

So, I have a friend who has (breathes in): 7 cats, 2 dogs, 2 bunnies, 2 birds and several tanks of fish. She is a veterinarian, and she is the one that I first saw use this product....so, this past week when I experienced an issue of my own with my one and only cat, I decided to go and buy it. I can honestly say that it is one of the best investments I have EVER made.
I have read on here that the size of the round brush was not large enough to cover the area that an animal may make a stain...but here is the thing, for times like that, it has a removable manual brush/vacuum/spray that works perfectly! In fact, I have yet to use the round end, preferring to use the manual instead....I am so thrilled with my purchase, that I had to come on here and tell everyone.
If you have one pet or multiple pets and you have carpet, you need to have this product. Whether you own or rent...it will save you money. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
Special note: Bed Bath and Beyond carries this, and with one of their 20 percent off coupons.... :) |

I was skeptical. I had my carpet professionally cleaned and was very
disappointed. There were dark sections where my large Goldens would
lie that was a combo of dirt and skin oils - professional couldn't
make a dent. This machine worked great. Be aware that this cleans in
rather small circles. So I had a field of very light circles where it
was clean. My only solution is to overlap slightly the circles and work
my way around a rather large patch. Sure wish the round brush area was
lots bigger but I know that would be impractical. I used VERY HOT water
and the deep clean cycle. This machine cleaned up every spot I tried it
on. Great for all the pet "accidents" that occur but of course I've used
it on all the spots of various origins and each and every one is gone!
I would encourage you to try it. For small areas its fantastic. For
larger areas, it just takes time going by very small sections. But it sure
beat the "professionals" and rented units that I had tried. |

| Wow! This thing is great. We purchased it as part of our wedding gifts. My husband was skeptical. However, it is perfect. We had a light gray berber carpet in terrible shape, between 2 gastro-intestinally challenged cats and 4 kids who like orange soda. THe SpotBot did clean so perfectly that it left perfect circles on the worn carpet. It was all the incentive we needed to replace the carpet. We had been hesitant to replace it because we figured it would just get re-stained. However, since the Spot Bot worked SO well, we can keep the new carpet in perfect condition. So far, it has completely removed pee and puke stains. The new carpet is a frisee (kind of fuzzy). We've also used it on old stains on the upstairs plush carpets. Completely gone. As to using too much detergent, I use WAY less than it suggests, remembering that Bissel is promoting its own product by requiring so much for each use. Totally not necessary. I use about 3 tablespoons per tank, and get great results. Each tank leans for 3 cycles, so that's not expensive to maintain. Thanks to the Spot Bot, I got new carpet, and don't have to have the discussion about "Are The Cats Worth Destroying This House?" :) |

We have a 5 month old German Shepard and 10 year old cat. The cat has from time to time vomited on our carpet. Food, hair balls, bile, etc. My wife and I both work and sometimes we come home after such an excretion, we wipe up what we can and hit it with the Spotbot. Even if it has been sitting for hours or a few days, it is amazing how perfectly well it cleans. We finish the cycle by manually using the hose and vacuum attachment and sucking up any residual fluid. As a puppy, our GSD would run around playing and decide it was time to take a crap. Wipe up what you can and Spotbot does the rest.
The other day we came back from a beach fishing trip. Some how our bait cooler tipped over and some of the juice ran out into the carpet of my car. The smell was indescribable and it wasn't going away so I pulled out the Spotbot with the manual hose attachment. The trigger on the attachment sprays the cleaning mixture in a fan pattern and then you can scrub and suck it up. Easy, easy, and most importantly, no more odor.
This is the second review I've ever written but I had too because this thing is worth the investment.

I have 2 dogs, 2 very messy dogs. I have bought so many carpet cleaners over the years and none did the job as promised.
This little machine does, it has taken out every nasty stain on my carpeting.
Finally, a winner. |

| My husband bought the Spotbot after returning a different name brand cleaner. I was amazed at how this product works! The hand-held tool works great! The spot cleaning part of the cleaner works like magic. You just position it over a stain, push a button and walk away. Amazingly, you come back and the spot is completely gone! I moved our couch out and found a red kool-aid stain from long ago. Set the spotbot on top of the stain, pushed the button, came back a few minutes later and the spot was completely gone. I would highly recommend this product to anyone. Works great for anyone with kids or pets. I have yet to find a stain that it doesn't take out. |

| This small appliance has saved me time and elbow grease in cleaning up after a poorly trained little dog I rescued from unhealthy and dangerous circumstances. The secret to getting up spots and odor is in the liquid cleaning products made by Bissell to use in this machine, especially the Oxy-Gen Liquid combined with the Pet Stain and Odor Removing Rug Shampoo to remove set-in stains. I'm very pleased with this product so far. Have only had it for about a month. |

I have had indoor cats for over 20 years and all have had issues with throwing-up hair balls and such. I have been on my hands and knees and purchased several items over the years but to no avail. We purchased the Bissell 1200A SpotBot and can't believe the amazing job it does. We have had it about a month now and it has alreay more than paid for itself.
I recommend this product to anyone with pets and I bet it would be great for spills by the little ones to.

I love this machine.
I've had other small things like this, including the bissel little green steam machine which worked fine enough for being so little. I recently got a new puppy, and...what the heck, thought I'd try this gimmick for pets.
No gimmick. It works. It works better than I even hoped. Best thing? But the machine down on top of the spot, push the button, walk away. Come back, it's clean. Wow.
And then I painted my bedroom. Oops, I got some paint on the carpet -- just a little bit. I wiped it up with a damp cloth, and it just smeared. I thought I'd try the machine. No paint stain, no smear, nothing.
The hose works well too -- better than other hand helds.
Great marketing to sell it for pet use, but.... I use it for everything. I couldn't be more pleased. Strongly recommend. |

| Bought a refurbished unit and it works like a dream. I used it for 2 hours straight on old set in stains, including tea and blueberries. I always treat a stain immediately with half and half white vinegar and water so the stain loosens. The spotbot got all the stain out. I found that if you 'fluff' the crop circles before the carpet dries it helps smooth the fibers back to normal. I am very happy with this and would recommend it to anyone for the in between professional steam cleans! |
AMAZING MACHINE - Couldn't Survive Puppyhood Without It!

I really LOVE this machine!! We are trying hard to house train our puppy, but quite frankly we have had a LOT of accidents, and inevitably when he poops in the house it is a rather wet consistency (YUCK!). What AMAZES me most is that, even when I clean the stain thoroughly by hand using traditional foam carpet cleaner and brush it out so it looks fine, the Spot Bot can still get a TON more yucky stuff out of the deep fibers of the rug. Our rugs are less than a year old, yet the dirty water tank pulls out dark brown water even after it looks to the eye like the stain has been thoroughly cleaned up by hand. This means it also gets out ALL the smell and there are no lingering odors.
BIGGEST PROS: really deep, deep cleaning; eliminates all lingering odors and leaves fresh smell; incredibly easy and convenient - just set it on the stain and walk away (no elbow grease and you don't have to put on rubber gloves and scrub at nasty smelly poo poo!); this thing really works great!
MINOR CONS: the OxyClean stuff can be expensive (I just squirt a little directly on difficult spots before running the machine rather than mixing so much of it into the tank); machine beeps incessantly once cycle finishes to tell you it is done cleaning; leaves a clean wet spot that can take a little while to dry (with area rugs, you can flip rug up so dries faster and doesn't damage hardwood floors underneath).
I never ever take the time to write product reviews and am not easily impressed by household appliances. But this little machine works so well that I felt I had to write about it!! I definitely do not see how anyone can survive puppy training without one!

I have to say, I'm impressed. I've been using the SpotBot Pet around my house for the past 6 months and I LOVE it. I have two small dogs who are still in potty-training, and the SpotBot works great on their accidents on my cream carpet.
However, I was amazed when I let my friend borrow it. We'd accidentally spilled a whole bottle of red wine on his cream-ish carpet and he LEFT IT THERE overnight. I let him borrow my SpotBot but was not expecting great results. After all, it's red wine on cream carpet and he'd let it set overnight.. I was expecting to go carpet shopping or find an area rug the next day. I was truly impressed when he was able to get the entire stain out of his carpet without much fuss. He had to let it run a few extra cycles, but hey.. it came out!
Yes, it can leave "crop circles" where the area you've cleaned is lighter/cleaner than the surrounding area. If I notice this happening I'll just clean an entire section of carpet.
I like that you can set it and walk away. I turn it on and let it run upstairs while I'm cleaning other areas of the house, coming back periodically to move it to other spots. It's been a great help keeping my carpets fresh with two small dogs. I like the fact that it's small too. For about the same price you can buy a large upright, but I don't really need it. My entire upstairs is carpeted (3 bedrooms, hallways, etc) and the size definitely works for me.
I would definitely recommend, and HAVE recommended it to friends/family. As well as to my wine-spilling friend ;) |
WOW - I LOVE THIS THING!!!!!

I have 3 dogs and 3 cats, and my 2 year old wall to wall stainmaster carpet (which cost me a couple thousand dollars) was a disaster! Housebreaking is always a challenge, and even a housebroken dog has occassional accidents, so I was hauling my full-sized Hoover shampooer out way too often. I'm told it's not good for your rugs to shampoo them too much, but you get to a point where you don't care. I had just shampooed them, then offered to dog-sit for a puppy that I was told was "doing well on housebreaking". Not sure what her owner's definition of "doing well" was, but the dog went on my carpet more times than I could count over the 4 days I had her.
Combine that with the 9 week old Australian Shepherd I just brought into my pack, who actually IS doing very well on housebreaking, but got sick a couple times, and I was ready to cry. Then I saw this little miracle shampooing machine and ran right out and bought it. It works GREAT! Old stains of unknown origin that were all down my stairs were easily eliminated (my upright doesn't have hose attachments and I wasn't able to clean the stairs). If the puppy has an accident, big deal! I've got my SpotBot out and the stain is gone. Even the really disgusting accidents. And the solution leaves a nice scent behind.
What I really love about this is that I can put it on the Automatic setting, then go make myself a sandwich, clean somewhere else, sit and play the piano, drink a glass of wine and watch Ghost Hunters...anything I want....and come back a few minutes later to find a nice clean rug. The manual setting works very well too.
Personally, I like that the spray radius is wider than the brush attachment. You cover more surface area with the solution in one spray, and then just move the brush around to clean up the whole area.
It's simple to use, lightweight, and very easy to clean. Just watch out for the hole in the top of the dirty tank when you go to empty it out. For some reason,I was thinking I'd have to unscrew something at the bottom of the tank and I poured all that filthy water down the front of myself. |
Great and comes through every time.

I have had this item for over 1 and half years now. It still works perfectly. I am a little concerned over the cleaning of the hose as it is looking a little dark. Instead of using the crazy chemicals that Bissell provides or suggests I use Seventh Generation carpet cleaner. I just follow the directions and add the cleaner the same as Bissell's cleaner. I am happy that I can use a more eco friendly product to get the stains out.
As for the concern of it leaving the carpet wet, hello! You are steam cleaning/ washing your carpet. For what you pay and what it should do this is a great product. I have had no issues with it leaking, even when using the hand attachment. |

I received a Bissell SpotBot for my birthday. I've lived in rental for 5 years, and I'm embarrassed to say, I've not shampooed the carpets before this. When we arrived here the carpets had been cleaned, albeit very poorly. Add our lives in rainy (and therefore muddy) Oregon, along with a child, and a little dog, and we have some definite stains.
Many people have said to me "Oh you just need a brush and a spot treater to clean up carpet stains", and I'm here to say that after YEARS of just using a brush and a spot treater I am glad to be done with it. The Bissell Spot Bot has removed all the myriad stains that the brush couldn't.
The reviews here at the site that explain how to properly care for the SpotBot as well as the true limitations of the product have all been very helpful.
1. Vacuum your carpet first
2. Clean the filter in the dirty water tank regularly
3. Empty both containers prior to storage
4. Let the containers *dry* prior to storage
5. Clean out the hose after every use session
6. Do not use heated water as this may make the plastic brittle and susceptible to breakage
7. Gently blot with a towel after use to pick up excess water if you are concerned about it
If you don't follow these steps every time, it's quite possible that you may dramatically shorten the life of your SpotBot and/or cause leakage.
Some things to realize:
1. It's not meant to clean a full carpet
2. It cleans 6 inch diameter areas at a time
3. Yes, it's like a vacuum, it makes noise
4. The shampoo products are expensive and while I have safely substituted other things (Simple Green, Mrs. Meyers general cleaning solution--ALWAYS mix at a lower ratio than the Bissel products because the non-Bissel products will foam like mad!), the Bissel products produce the best results on the most difficult to clean areas
5. Yes, it cleans with water, therefore your carpet might be damp, even a little wet after you use it. If this is somehow a suprise to you that a spot treatment machine that uses water might leave a carpet damp, I'm not sure what to say. I use old cloth diapers or rag towels to blot a bit and move on. I throw them on the floor and stand on them, that's it. Pretty effortless.
For my purposes it has removed 5 year old stains that were here when we got here. It's great on animal accidents (our dog is housebroken, but accidents happen). The "set stain" and "normal stain" cleaning options are great, as this can help control how much cleaning solution you use, as well as the duration of the cleaning. I absolutely love that I can be cleaning in another area of this house, and just set this up to do its thing while I do something else.
I would most definitely purchase this again. If you don't think you can take care of the machine as recommended, then perhaps consider a different model or professional cleaning services.Bissell 1200A SpotBot Pet Hands-Free Compact Deep Cleaner, Blue Illusion |

| I love this product! Several days a week I would have to get on my hands and knees with a scrub brush and carpet cleaner to clean up after my kitty who has a weak stomach. With the Spot Bot I can place the machine brushes on top of the stain, push a button and walk away. It gets it CLEAN unlike hand scrubbing. I don't know how I have lived so long without knowing this product was out there! For me, it is money well spent. |

Our old SpotBot finally died after many years, so we purchased this model as a replacement. We have two hairball-loving cats and three kids, so this is a necessity in our house.
I have nothing negative to say about this, and it seems to do even a better job than our old SpotBot. In general, we have had very good luck with Bissell products, and this SpotBot is no exception.
Considering the cost of professional carpet cleaning, the SpotBot quickly pays for itself.
Bottom line: the product works as advertised, gets the nasty stains out of your carpet, is easy to use, and makes cleaning up nasty messes a bit more fun (if that's possible). |

| I have two dogs so any dog owner knows what that means. My old Green machine gave up the ghost so I needed another to clean up the small messes dogs sometimes make. I finally found this one and it is great. You can use it by hand or have it clean the area automatically by pushing a couple buttons. It does a fantastic job and you also get small bottles of sample carpet cleaners with it. Bissell did a good job in creating this machine, it helps out especially if you are a busy person who doesn't really have the time to do cleanup by hand. You won't regret buying this machine. |

I love this thing! I have two cats, and one is a puker. I only feed (high-quality) dry food to my kitties and so when she hurls it is kind of yellowish colored. All the carpeting in my house is light in color (light gray in one area and beige in another). Before getting this machine I would use the best products out there and spend lots of time down on my hands and knees and when I was done I could still see where the stain had been. It was probably good enough that no one else would notice, but I did, and I hated that I never got it completely out.
Now, I use the automatic cycle and it gets the stain completely out every time. I have found that using the "Surface Stain" button is often not enough even on recent stains, so I always just use the "Set-In Stain" button. It takes a little longer and uses a little more product, but it always does the trick.
I've also used the manual wand for other cleaning projects and couldn't be happier.

This is a really good machine among cleaners of this size level. For one thing, this and I saved my mother from having to have someone re-upholster some of her living room furniture--needless to say, she was amazed and noted the glow around my face! LOL! Using this for cleaning those items really well (especially the arms) "paid" for this item many times over. Naturally, it's ideal also for cleaning car upholstery and for spot jobs.
Also, I have an old upright deep cleaner from another maker. Both of these machine types are good investments for apartment dwellers--upon leaving, one is far more likely to get the bulk of their deposit back as well as to keep their carpet and upholstery clean of stains. My single friends, once introduced to such machines, heartily agree with me. Also, I favor deep clean devices for getting one's house ready for move-out condition--of course, it's easier--given bare rooms.
Such deep clean machines generally are heavy duty and seem to last "forever." They appear, also, to share the same proven internal mechanical principles. In the almost unthinkable event of failure out of warranty, vacuum cleaner repair places likely will easily fix anything that's broken for any type, make, or, model of deep clean machines....
Q: Do cleaning services using sophisticated machines really care as much as you do about how clean your home is? Will they go over spots again and and again or even "sit" a machine on a spot to get it clean, as this machine can? |

This thing works as advertised, is SO easy to use and clean, and is a machine that makes cleaning actually FUN. Seriously. Your kids will love cleaning for you!
As well, the way to empty this and clean the "dirty" chamber is as good of an engineering job as I've ever seen. Easy, fast, and as someone else mentioned, you can return this thing to like new condition in about 30 seconds because of how easy it is to clean the chambers.
My ONLY beef is that the cleaning solutions are waaay too expensive; however, this thing does such a good job that PLAIN HOT WATER (probably distilled would be best) would probably work just as well...
Kudos to Bissell...this is a heck of a machine... |

| When I purchased my new home with carpet I wanted to be ready for any pet accidents. My husband did not see a need to purchase this at the time but I convinced him it would be good to have on hand. We had wood floors in our previous home so clean up was not a worry. The first day we were in our new home our oldest dog was confused and had an accident. I ran for the SpotBot Pet and cleaned the area quickly with no excessive water or odor left behind. One of the next incidents was a husband with mud on his shoes he did not realize was there. Quickly it was cleaned up with my Spotbot. There was one small spot on the carpet from the previous owners and I decided to try the Spotbot on it and that took care of it. I am very satisfied with this machine and would recommend it to anyone with carpets. |

I have an Irish Wolfhound, a mini dachshund who doesn't think she is required to potty outside, a cat, two guinea pigs, two rats, two young sons, and the messiest boyfriend you've ever met. I have absolutely worked this thing to death and it's still going strong. It cleans better than I could do on my hands and knees in an hour, and it does it with little effort on my part. I absolutely could not live without this machine. The only problem is that I'm addicted to it, and I keep seeing little spots on my carpet that need to be cleaned! I actually emailed the company and asked if they have any future plans to make a giant spot bot. The answer was no, which is very disappointing because there is no full size carpet steamer that I have found that cleans as deeply, lasts as long without breaking down, or takes so little human effort! |

I am generally opposed to single use appliances. (Bread maker what? I'm the bread maker!) This machine has changed my mind. It does one thing and it does it fabulously. I have a 12 year old Siamese cat that has always had a sensitive stomach. The special reduced ingredient diet he's on made a real difference, but I still found myself on my hands and knees scrubbing vomit out of the carpet on a regular basis. Some of these stains I could not get out completely.
Enter the SpotBot. OMG, this thing rules. I unpacked it about an hour ago and it has already removed several stains that have been embarrassing me for months. I did this while getting dressed this morning and with almost no effort on my part. It really only requires filling the tank, setting it on the stain, and pushing a button. The stains appear to be completely gone.
This is the first review I have written on Amazon, but I am so pleased with this device I just had to share. If you have a vomiting cat or not-quite-housebroken puppy you really need the SpotBot. |

Hands down, this is probably one of the best small appliances I've ever purchased. We have a full-size steam cleaner but it's big and bulky and a pain to pull out for one little stain here or there. Plus it's hard on my back. But this little wonder called the Spot Bot is absolutely perfect for our needs.
It's light enough for me to pack around the house and it does an admirable job cleaning up. My only complaint about it is that when it's left to its own devices, it doesn't extract enough of the water out of the carpet, but it's no big deal to just whip out the hose and little wand attachment and basically squeegee the rest out. Dries in a flash that way and it gets out the circular scrub spot!
We just moved into a new home with nearly white carpet and with 4 stressed-out cats, we've had our share of "Butt Scootin' Boogie" spots and hairball messes and the like. Even a couple of pee spots. But the Spot Bot got right to work and the floors look perfect! I would heartily recommend putting the cleaner mix in a spray bottle and putting that directly on the spot and then just use clean water in the tank. That way you don't get any of the residue left over that can attract more dirt. Plus, you use a lot less of the cleaner too.
If you have pets and carpet, you NEED this tool! It's been a lifesaver in our home so far! We've only had it for 4 days and I've used it on probably 25 spots already. Great stuff! Quick and easy.
**additional review 12/3/08**
I'm absolutely SOLD on this device! This little baby has logged some serious hours in our house so far and it's still going strong. Just be sure to clean the brush every now and again and rinse the waste tank to get rid of the carpet fuzz that can accumulate. And it's DEFINITELY best to use your cleaner in a separate spray bottle. We've actually set up a system where we have a squeezable condiment bottle filled with an oxygenated bleach mix (like Oxy-Fresh or the like) for any staining and then a spray bottle with the diluted rug cleaning solution. This allows you to really concentrate the cleaner right on the spot without messing with the rest of the carpet. Then just plop the SpotBot right on there and let 'er rip! Works great for us! |
Finally, a cleaning product that works!

I can't imagine how many tools or other cleaning products I've bought in my life that didn't do even one tenth of the things they promised. The SpotBot really surprised me. I had made an appointment to have my carpets cleaned by a professional cleaner and happened to see SpotBot in Target. I didn't buy it then because I had not heard of it. I came home and Googled it and read the reviews. I ordered it from Amazon and after receiving it I couldn't believe the results. I started cleaning a couple of spots just to see if it worked. It cleaned them so well, I didn't want to stop, but since the carpet cleaners were coming in a few days I wanted to save something for them to clean.
I have one small area outside my kitchen door that doesn't stay clean for very long after cleaning, but I don't believe that is the fault of SpotBot. I don't know what was spilled there and I think I will have to replace the carpet altogether to be rid of it.
I followed the instructions for mixing the cleaning solution I found in the booklet that came with the appliance and it works fine. I agree that it does leave the carpet wetter than I would like, but I dry it the best I can, using the hose attachment and then put a single sheet of paper toweling over the spot so no one will walk on the spot while it is still wet. My husband says he is glad I finally found an appliance that I'm happy with.

| Bissell 1200A SpotBot Pet Hands-Free Compact Deep Cleaner, Blue Illusion My wife and I simply do not know why we did not buy this earlier. Like many families we have wall-to-wall carpeting and we have 2-mini Dachshund companions. On occasion like most Dogs and Cats, they do have an accident. While we have a "Full Size" Bissell Steam Cleaner that works great, since we have received this we have not had to pull it out. This is very compact and works extremely well. We have had to use it now on number 1's, 2's and a throw up and it does as well if not BETTER than our full size and as it is concentrated liquid, is inexpensive to operate comparatively. The nozzle for stairs and furniture is just a very nice added bonus as we have cleaned our sofa of VERY set in stains and now completely gone! Do not hesitate to buy this product as we do not believe you will regret it one bit. |

Rescued our carpet
|
| Review Date: November 18, 2008 |
| Reviewer: Machiavelli, |
We adopted a troubled dog from a rescue program earlier this year. The little guy had been pretty badly abused and while he's making great strides he continues to engage in "submissive urination." You can imagine the effect that this had on the carpet in our home. The constant scrubbing was a real pain in the neck. A very expensive carpet cleaning from one of those companies touting their "dead sea salts" really didn't work very well at all, and even if it had we couldn't keep spending that kind of money. This product rescued our carpet from the "rescued" dog.
When one of my wife's co-workers (who serves as a foster person for rescue dogs and has several in her home at any given time) recommended a spot bot to her I was skeptical. My wife's a clean freak and is constantly bringing home products like this. We have nearly every kind of floor or carpet device known to man, including two other Bissels that we haven't been thrilled with. But I was desperate enough to give it a try and grabbed one off of Amazon. It turned out to be one of the best purchases ever. To my amazement, the thing actually works really well. It's extremely simple to use . . . just fill the tank, drop it on the accident spot, plug it in, and decide whether you want a surface or a deep clean. You hit the button and walk away. When it's done you're left with a damp circular impression on the carpet as the only evidence of the accident. The beep it makes when finished is a bit annoying, but it reminds us to pick it up and put it away so the damp spot can air out and dry.
As I said, we have two other Bissell's - a small hose type portable unit that doesn't work all that well (or at all, really), and a much larger, more expensive unit that does a so-so job and is a pain in the neck to use and an even bigger pain to take apart and clean afterward. The spot bot does a much (Much!) better job than either of those. When it finishes there is no sign of soiling and no residual odor. We've used it on more conventional jobs like tracked in mud, etc., and it has not disappointed.
We've had it a few months now. If it holds up over time this will likely qualify as the best purchase of this kind we've ever made. |

The SpotBot has been great for cleaning my cat's throw-up recently. I just spray the spot with a spray carpet cleaner and put the SpotBot on the spot, turn on and walk away, it works on the spot for about a minute and it's gone. I like that I don't have to stay there while it's working.
I've also found you can use other kinds of carpet cleaners (not only the Bissell ones that go with it) but you have to be careful to only put a little bit in, because they seem to sud more and cause the SpotBot to have suds coming out the back end. |

| This is a great innovation in carpet cleaning, especially if you have pets. I would have bought the little green machine instead but I was able to get the Spot Bot at the same price. I find that we are using the hose/brush feature far more often then the spot treatment, so you the Little Green Machine is probably a better buy in most cases. We bought it to clean up "accidents" by a new puppy. It works great for quickly taking care of her messes. It removes the "arghh!" factor from housebreaking a puppy. |

I've had the SpotBot for about 4 months now and love it. It is seriously the best cleaning device I've ever owned. My large dog has a habit of eating things he shouldn't and throwing up in the middle of the night. We usually wake up enough to get the big chunks picked up and throw a wet towel over it until morning. No matter how hard I scrubbed, there was always a stain because we let it sit overnight. (gross, I know).
With the SpotBot we still leave the stain overnight, but the SpotBot cleans it easily in the morning. It's even gotten all the old stains up.
Now this is sad, I was so pleased with the automatic scrubbing that I didn't notice until tonight that it had a brush for manual cleaning. I am so thrilled at all the new cleaning possibilities!! How I didn't notice the big fat hose wrapped around the thing, I don't know. It was worth every penny before knowing about the manual brush, the brush is just a great bonus! |

| This machine is my favorite Christmas present! It does steps, can do your boat, cottage, trailer, or spots around the house. Very handy to carry and store. As far as expense, once I ran out of the solutions, I use hot water and white vinegar (half and half) works great. I will buy the solutions when I'm out, but white vinegar is great for getting out pet odors and stains. Call Hagopian Carpet services if you question this. Also, people say, "it leaves a round crop circle after cleaing" . . .I say "GREAT!" That means it's cleaning the area! All you have to do after words is use the wand around the circle and it comes up beautifully. In addition, I read a review that the stains don't come up. Well, sometimes stains surface from the pad and need an extra cleaing. That's just life. I love my SpotBot. .. now I just need to deal with my emotional dog that urinates when my kids go to school because he's mad. He also hates the cold. Hopefully the coat I got him for Christmas will help. Any suggestions? |

To sum up:
1. Bought it because my darling cat left BOTH vomit and poop on my carpet the other night. And the price of this thing is less than losing my "pet deposit" on the apartment.
2. Works a charm. Stains of both types are completely gone. Yay.
3. I did not exactly follow the directions provided by Bissell. I followed the suggestions from user comments on Amazon regarding Bissell's sister machine (the regular SpotBot). A very nice reviewer summed it all up at this URL here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1MWQWBP058WER/ref=cm_cr_rdp_perm Did the trick as far as I'm concerned (and will save money on the cleaning fluid).
4. There's only one thing I would add: It's HEAVY. Note the 19 pound shipping weight. I realize I'm something of a wuss here, but the SpotBot's design sorta INVITES you to lift it with one hand, and those of us who don't do regular bicep curls may discover a certain amount of residual muscle strain just by moving it around the living room. (It isn't enough to take a star away from the rating -- just be warned if you're a wimp like me.) |
The best new appliance ever ... especiallly for pet stains

Okay. So I have quite a few pets - dogs and cats. Occassionally the dogs make a mistake and every now and then one of the cats throws up (trying to hack up the inevitable hair ball). I used to spend a lot of time on my hands and knees scrubbing these stains or pulled out my big, heavy carpet cleaner. Sometimes a disheartening amount of work.
The SpotBot makes clean up really fast and easy. If there is a spill or a pet accident, all you have to do is put detergent and water into the cleanser tank, plug it in, put the brushes over the stain ... then walk away! When you come back, the stain is completely gone. Cleaning up the machine afterword takes seconds.
This is the the best appliance we have purchased this year.

this was easy to use right out of the box. with 2 cats, 1 dog, a toddler and a crawling infant, i needed something to spot clean in between carpet shampooing. my 3 year old was enthralled to watch the machine do all the work!
it does leave the carpet a little moist and with a circle indentation after it's finished, but i've solved those issues with a paper towel. blot the excess moisture and fluff the carpet pile with the paper towel and that's it. it takes all but a minute to do this so you can go from stain to clean in 5 minutes or less. seriously!
it's super fast, super easy to use, and super easy to clean up and put away! it's a must-have for parents with small children and/or pet owners!!! |

| I recently purchased the Bissell SpotBot Pet because of my hardheaded little Boston (gotta love her)who is only potty-trained when it's convenient for her. I read the other reviews to see what others had to say and overall it sounded like a pretty good deal. I am impressed with the results. I definantly do not regret the purchase. I love how easy it is to use. I agree with others that it does leave behind a little more water than I'd like, but that's not a problem. All you have to do is use the hose attachment and suck up the rest. Overall, I give in an A+. |

I always do lots of research on things. I also tend to get things that seem new and cool, but don't seem to do the trick and regret it. But this little device, I absolutely love.
Right out of the box, fill it with water, put in the solution(it comes with two different solution samples), and wham, good to go.
I had a spot, from a week ago, cat puke, that i couldn't get out by hand. Instead of borrowing the huge full carpet cleaner system from a family member, this was perfect. small, and powerful. I just set it down on top of the spot, hit the button, for the 6 minute option(i forget the title of it at the moment) and watched it do its thing. When it beeped when it was done, the spot was good as new.
This unit is great if you get spills from kids, or little spots all the time, like in my case, my cat puking every day on my carpet.
So, if you want something quick and super easy to do the job right, this is the unit for you. |

When answering an urgent appeal from an overwhelmed pound, I was adopted by a puppy who was left with seven others, in some woods. Judah was just a six pound bag of cuddles when we brought him home. While he was learning other things, I decided to try this, mainly because of the 'hands free' description. My only mistake was 'not' having my carpets cleaned before purchasing the SpotBot. This little machine does a wonderful job. It takes care of the puppy accidents with no problem. However, it does a really great job, and leaves wonderfully cleaned circles. This points out why I should have had the whole carpet cleaned first. No matter. Puppy is now spoiled. All evidence of "OOPS" is quickly taken care of.
This product is much better than it's advertising - it is great. |

| I can't believe how amazing this machine is! I cannot live without it now. I just tried it out and have gotten 2 cat barf stains (food, grass) and a set-in coffee stain. I used the hand held tool to suction up the rest of the liquid and it dried up pretty fast. Yes, it does use up alot of the formula but it's well worth it and has gotten the stains out on the first try. For the 2 cat barf stains I used the Surface Stain option and for the coffee stain I used the Set-In Stain option which worked wonderfully. I highly recommend this machine. I know it's kind of pricey but I bought it on Kohl's website because they were offering free shipping and I also had a coupon code for 20% off a purchase. |

My husband and I have two cats - one is 14 years old, and the other is just over a year old. Both are long-haired. As you can imagine, finding coughed up hairballs on the carpeting is a weekly occurrence. Our older cat has also been having frequent "accidents" because sometimes he just can't make it to the litter box in time.
I picked this up on a whim because I was just SICK of scrubbing out the spots every week. Also, I was tired of having to bust out our huge carpet cleaner for these small spots. The thing was heavy and almost impossible for me to get down the stairs by myself.
I was VERY surprised at how well this thing works! It is very simple to use and very easy to keep clean. It's also light, so small people won't have to fight with it to get it up and down a flight of stairs.
There have been times when I have come home from work to find a crusty and dry pile of vomit or poo on the rug. Normally I would freak out and be stressed out for the rest of the night. With the SpotBot, all I have to do is clean up whatever solid "stuff" I can. Then, I just put the machine down on top of the spot and let it do its thing. Sometimes, if the spot is REALLY bad, I have to run it twice. But, it is always able to get the spot up and the solution leaves a nice, clean scent behind.
This thing is worth every penny, especially if you issues with hairballs and other "accidents." We have had this thing for about four or five months now, and I am very happy with the purchase. If this thing ever breaks down, I will not hesitate to buy another one.

It's making it's way around our house and cars reconciling all the 'I told you that'd make a mess' incidents in the carpet that have taken place over the last 8 years courtesy of my three kids, and the more recent bathroom indiscretions caused by my four-legged hairier kids. I'm loving it and I have to admit I do watch it while it works its magic sometimes. |

The Bissell SpotBot is the best gadget/appliance/home-cleaning product that I have ever purchased. EVER!!! There's nothing about it that I don't love. It's compact, lightweight, effortless to use, and best of all..... it keeps my carpet immaculately clean and spot free. I have indoor pets, and prior to purchasing the SpotBot, I was constantly renting steam vacuum cleaners before every party or family gathering. But in between steam cleaning sessions, no matter how much I manually "cleaned" my carpet with soap and sponges, brushes, etc., it never really seemed clean.
Now that I have the SpotBot, my carpet is always "spot"less, and I no longer have the expense of renting steam cleaners. The cleaning solution that the SpotBot requires can get a little bit costly, but it is more than worth the money, and gives my home a great soapy-clean smell.
I recommend the SpotBot to anyone who has pets, kids, a very active lifestyle, or just simply wants to keep their carpet looking great and smelling fabulous. |
Great Spot Cleaner

| Reviewer: Average Joe, Phoenix |
We purchased this machine 4 days ago and WOW. It works wonderfully. We were concerned that it would be another "gadget" that took too long to pull out, put together and then clean afterwards. This was the main reasons some spots would have to multiple before we broke out the full size carpet cleaner. (For those of you with pets or children, you know what I mean.)
Using it is almost too easy. You add water to the correct line, pour in the solution to the correct line and then you are done. Put the machine on the spot you want it to eradicate and push the appropiate automatic button. It is very fast and does a awesome job. It is much better than trying to sop up the mess with paper towels or rags. Once done, it will beep until you finally press the stop button. You then take out the dirty water tank, dump and rinse it out. That's it.
Granted we have only used it 4 times, but it has removed cat and dog vomit and a oil stain. The machine is a little loud and does leave the carpet damp but nothing out of the ordinary. We wish we had purchased this machine years ago.
This is a great spot cleaner and a life saver for people with pets or children. It is fast, easy and it works well. It seems sturdy and doesn't feel like it will break if you hold it wrong. It even has parts that you can purchase online as they wear out and seem affordable. I will update this post if we find the durability to be lacking or if we run into major problems. All in all, it is worth EVERY penny.
9/22/09 Update - After using this product, we still like it but have noticed some areas for improvement. The machine doesn't rinse the soap out of the carpet so the cleaner will attract dirt. A week after using the product, it was very easy to see where we had used it to clean up cat barf. Another problem we found is it doesn't do so well with dog marking. (Yes, we think it is beyond gross.. where is the Dog whisper when you really need him???) We used the pet formula 3 times on one spot and the yellow stain was still there. We did a test and the oxy formula did better but the stain was still visable. We had to break out our hoover and it pulled up the stain and leftover smell in one pass.
I have to agree with what other reviews have said that it does leave the carpet damp. Using the handheld suction does fix it up but you would think it could do a little better.
This product is great to do the initial cleanup but it isn't the automatic solution we are all dreaming of. It goes through solution very quickly and I would only suggest the Oxy formula after you have tried everything else.
Here are some design flaws we noticed. When the dirty water tank is full, the spotbot doesn't stop it cycle. You will hear a change in the noise but it isn't sucking any water up. It will complete the full cycle which is unfortunate. Also, the beeping... MAKE IT STOP BEEPING. I am; like everyone else, multitasking when using this product and I don't stand there waiting for it to complete. After it completes it cycle, it will beep every 5 seconds till ETERNITY! Sure we need to know that it is done, couldn't they have just made it beep for 30 seconds or something less obnoxious?
All in all, GREAT for cat stains, doesn't work on our dog markings. If you are willing to put up with the little things that can be annoying, then this machine is for you. |

Our dog has house training problems, so he has accidents sometimes, which leave, er, spots. So i got this, and WOW it works GREAT, i like that it has two setting for it's hands free mode. To be honest it kind of eats the formula on it's deep cleaning mode, but unless it's a REALLY set in stain, the surface mode works fine. Yes, it leaves the carpet damp, but so do all carpet cleaners.
My son thinks it's awesome too, he's named it "PCF one." (he's nearly three.) |

We got this for our newborn kiddo and pets. Seemed to work great on the carpet. We still need to try it out on the stains on our couch, but we are pleased so far. I would say the only complaint is that it does take a LOT of solution and you don't get much area out of it, but seriously, it's the SPOT bot, not carpet or house bot...so what did we expect :D. Worked great on the puke stains on our rug.
If you are considering this, just know that it is only a spot cleaner, not a whole carpet/furniture cleaner, does great for it's title/job. |

I have used it on both surface and set in stains and had great results with both. Very user friendly and easy to use. This machine is a lightweight with heavyweight cleaning capabilities.
With six cats, a carpet cleaning machine is a must. The big machine is too much hassle to drag around for smaller jobs, so a few years ago I bought a smaller spot-cleaning machine. That one was virtually worthless, and I finally gave it away.
Then I bought this one. Wow! It's terrific - light years better than the old spot-cleaning machine. I first tried it on a stain on the carpet in the basement, a stain that had been there since we bought the house years ago. The stain had not budged using my big cleaner along with a pre-spot solution. Using the "set-in stain" button on the new SpotBot, I was astonished that this machine took the stain out in only one pass. I've had the machine for nearly a year now, and I haven't run across a spill it couldn't handle, including a recent incident with about a pint of freshly spilled house paint. That one took six or seven passes to rinse all the paint out - but I finished painting the room while the machine did all the work for me.
This one is a keeper.

I was a bit skeptical when we first purchased this product. It seemed to be making claims that I just didn't think something of this price could pull off. We ordered one and sooner than later, the cats left us a surprise on the carpet. We cleaned the mess as usual, but it left an odd yellow stain on our off-white carpet. So, we set the spotbot to work, using no cleaning agent at all. After one cycle, the spot was completely gone. There wasn't even a trace of the mess. We tried the spotbot again after a "scooting" episode outside of our bathroom. Although we had to move the thing a few times to cover the area of the mess (great visual, eh?), the stain was completely gone. We've even found old hairballs/vomit under our bed and this product was able to restore our carpet to "good as new" status; no exaggeration.
Each time we used it, we cleaned the mess with paper towels and conventional cat-mess cleaners and then put the spotbot to work. After it finishes its cycle, we used the hose to remove whatever water was left. This has worked amazingly -each and every time- we have tried it with zero problems.
I think this product is a cat owner's best friend, especially if you rent or are planning on selling your house with the carpet you have down now. I am simply amazed at how efficiently this thing works. Addressing other negative reviews of this product, I have used this maybe 40 times now and everything is still in perfect functioning order.
My only complaint with this is that a lot of mildew accumulates inside of the hose. I'm sure a mild bleach solution slurped down it may take care of that, but there just seems to be no way to completely dry the thing out. Overall, a minor flaw, especially considering how affordable this is.
