I have used this fan for 2 winters now and I like it so much I am buying a second!

Others write that the fan does not move much air....Well, this fan is silent and it is not designed to move a ton of air. It works as described and it moves air nicely across the stove top surface. We have a soapstone stove and it seems to work nicely at moving some air across vs all of it rising. I look forward to having two fans moving air without the electical expense. I do not ever lift the fan without using the grab loop on top and I only clean the dust that has accumulated by using the brush adapter on my vacumm taking care never to touch the blades. I think the blades are balanced nicely and that aides in the silence of use. Good Luck!
Excellent fan for any warm stowe

This fan actually does work really well but only if you keep your stove reasonably warm. When in the "burn zone" at 400F and up this little fan moves air big time! It will start spinning at lower temperatures but the action starts when the stove is as warm as it should be, at 600F it spins so fast that we can slice bread and whip cream with it ;-)

This product is AWESOME! Besides the fact that I'm amazed by how it works, the fact is it DOES work. It moves the air around and you don't even know it. It has helped me heat with my wood stove more efficiently and effectively. I would recommend this product.

This fan far exceeded our expectations. With the price of heating oil in the Interior of Alaska, this fan will definitely pay for itself within a short period of time. It moves quite a bit of warm air throughout our home to help lower our heating cost. Highly recommended if you want to circulate maximum air from your wood stove. Merry Christmas!

We're very happy with this great little fan. It is absolutely silent, and deflects quite a bit of heat from rising up to our mantle - pushing it out into the room. I don't really have a way to measure it, but it seems quite effective. It's also been a great conversation piece, and educational and fun for the kids to see how it transfers heat into energy to actually run the fan.
excellent purchase

We noticed a difference immediately after placing this fan on our wood burning stove. The heat in our log cabin was more even and it takes less wood to heat the place. I highly recommend this fan and am very glad we purchased it.
Works Great

This is my second Ecofan (one for each woodstove). The first one is still going strong. Have to blow some dust out of the motor once a year or so and put some light oil on fan shaft. Then it's good as new. Put both fans on one stove and it really moves the air. Great product.

Reviewer: Thomas DePaulo,
I had borrowed my neighbor's Ecofan, when I first installed my wood-burning stove. It was hard to imagine the small fan could make much draft; so I started out as a doubtful skeptic. When I had to return the fan and used the stove without it, I couldn't believe the difference. The stove was only heating up the area directly around it; so I immediately ordered the 3-bladed Ecofan Airplus and used it to spread the heat on an entire floor (approximately 1500 square feet). I can notice results within the first 30 minutes of lighting a fire; because the thermostat, a good 40 feet away, shows how effective this fan really is. I was a doubter, but now I'm a fan!
Innovative. Practical. Fun.

I have owned this fan for three years and it works perfectly. When the stove temperature gets above 100F degrees it automatically begins working. The hotter the stove, the faster the fan spins. The technology which converts heat to electrical energy is fascinating. ?No power cords or batteries needed. Great fun and practical to send warm air into the room.
Silent and Eco Friendly, What more could you want!

I was a little optomistic when buying this, alot of money for an unknown return. After using it for 3 months I bought 2 of the 2 blade models for my brother for Christmas. I have had wood stoves for 20 years and always had an electic fan or blower to help move the air over the stoves and optimize their performance. It always bothered me to have a fan running full time even when the stoves temperature got lower, not to mention the noise a fan caused.
Last year we upgraded our woodstove and decided to try out the Ecofan. I love it. It moves just enough air to increase the stoves performance without creating a drafty feeling in the room. The unit is completely silent, which is creat since it is only a few feet from our entertainment center (no more turning the fan off to watch a movie/TV)
When the stove cools down the fan slows to match the performance of the heat output. No energy cost to operate, what more could you want (I figure in 5-7 years it might even pay for itself, but thats not the point of buying it!)
Like i said, just bought 2 smaller units for my brothers and they both love them!
Great product

This is a great little invention. Even though it's a bit pricey, it is well worth it - it evenly distributes hot air throughout the area of use.

I bought this fan as I have a big old drafty house. The main floor has a small wood stove. I keep the house cool (58) and then use the wood stove to try and make it bearable. Before the fan purchase the house would only be "warmish" near the stove (ie a few feet radius) and I'd be wandering around my house wearing anything I could get my hands on. I purchased this fan and have noticed that the entire room that the wood stove is in feels much warmer after the fan and stove have been running a bit. I no longer wear crazy combinations of clothing and blankets. The fan is almost completely silent and unlike electric fans on the floor in front of the stove, won't blow ashes all over my house. It's a neat concept, starts spinning around 150 to 200 degrees, and slows down when the stove cools. For me, this purchase was worth it just to silently redistribute the heat.

I am very satisfied ! Very quiet and works a treat. My husband doesn't think it makes any difference but I can tell when I move to the other room that it's warmer than it used to be without it. Well worth the $. Thanks
Great idea!

This works well in a large "great room"--37' x 15'. Quiet and energy efficient. My wood stove is not centered in the room, so one end gets warmer than the other without this tool. I would recommend for someone with a similar issue.
better than expected

i have had this fan almost three years-i live in a mobile home and just wanted something to help with heat-i have a fireplace with the top blocked off with only a small flu hole in the top-a camping/tent heater which i have had for 5 years-2/3 of the heater sits in fireplace and 1/3 protrudes out-i have found if i turn the fan to blow into the fireplace instead of out it circulates the warm air much better-as long as i am up and keep fire hot it will keep thermostat off the whole time. am very pleased.

I bought this fan for a friend a couple years ago! She heats her house with wood and uses this little fan on her back external wood stove. Nice addition which actually moves some heat around without using electricity!
Solid Product

The three blade version of this wood stove fan is far more effective and efficient than the 2 blade version we previously purchased. We are happy with the performance, so far.
Great for Self-Powered!

Review Date: November 29, 2009
Reviewer: Livinontop,
When considering that this fan is powered only by heat created from the wood stove, it does an amazing job! We wanted something that would move the heat out of the 'corner' and into the entire room. We didn't want another energy consuming appliance to have to depend on to do that job. This is a great functional gadget. My husband, sitting in his chair in the middle of the room can feel the heat that the fan is pushing across the wood stove. It's NOT a fast breeze, but does push heat slowly. Those that have written reviews regarding this fan 'not moving a feather' should contact whomever their purchase was from and get another, 'cause this definitely works. We got the new AirPlus (3blade) in the 802 model (for 'wood stoves'). Maybe it's better than the original two blade version. I've read about concerns regarding 'no cage to protect little fingers' from turning fan blades, but they don't turn fast enough for that to be a problem. I'd worry more about little ones getting burnt on the hot stove before injury from a self-propelled fan.

which might help explain the price. I am using it on a wall mounted gas furnace that has no fan. I really like it and it works but I think I need 2 of them to do the job as well as I would like. The price will keep me from it. Overall I am happy with it since it works better than I expected.

Doesn't move much air, but it's a clever gadget. I doubt I'll ever recoup the cost through energy savings over the stove's electric blower.

A great product. It doesn't move a huge amount of air, but it does work as advertised and it's very cool and silent.
Neat concept... but not really effective.

The concept works great, but not totally thrilled with the product. I expected it to move more air than what it does. Even when the fire's HOT, you can barely feel air moving. Also, the shaft or one of the blades is bent. When it's spinning at slower speeds, it's very noticeable. The packaging was fine, must have been a manufacturing flaw. Perhaps that is one of the reasons for the minimal air movement... Seems like a lot of money for as little as it does!
Ok fan

This was an expensive that doesn't push much air. Our woodstove sets in an alcove and we needed a fan for air circulation. We were hoping to get away from the noisy electric fan but I guess it wasn't to be. In retrospect I wouldn't have bought this fan as it didn't meet our needs.
Neat but not useful

Review Date: April 15, 2010

This is indeed interesting technology, but it is little more than a novelty. The stove must be at least 175 degrees before the fan turns fast enough to move *any * air at all. At a top temperature of about 250 degrees (it warns against anything near 300 degrees and my stove never gets above 250 - so it should be perfect) the blades are finally spinning at a good clip but there is still not any significant air movement.

The fan and tiny little electric motor are just not big enough to move air more than a foot or two from the stove. No way this is enough to move stove-warmed air around a room. You still need an electric fan behind the stove to move the warmed air - this is just a toy and a conversation piece. A real let-down considering the price of this unit.
ok product but, not worth price

I used this for around a month or so it dose work but, it dosent push as much air as I thought it would.

On my wood burner it dosent work the way the instructions advise. I have to keep it on the front of the stove and have it blow across.

If you don't have a fan on the burner or have power to put a fan on like a hunting camp this maybe a good choice but, I just don't see where it was worth it for me.

I think this is more of a novelty than a useful addition to the home. While I have not measured the air volume it does not generate much flow. It's a good conversation piece though.

If you are looking for a decorative conversational piece and have extra cash on hand, this product may be for you. If you are looking to circulate heat from your wood burner, put your money elsewhere. Fortunately, Amazon has a most excellent return policy.

I ordered this for our pellet stove, and when it arrived I realized it was made for wood stoves. The directions didn't mention whether or not it would work on a pellet stove, so we gave it a try. It actually worked fine, but I had hoped it would move the heat down the hallway toward our bedrooms, and that was just too much to ask of this fan.

Very disapointed in this product. My old $20 small fan that hangs in the corner of the doorway blows the warm air around better than this thing. It's a lot of money for something that really doesn't do anythng.

Fan worked about 2 weeks and than it won't start back up when we put wood in stove without priming blades. Blades seem very slow. Its not on a very hot woodstove but when it does work doesn't really move air flow across room. If you put a piece of paper behind fan it will pull paper in slight amount. Put paper in front of fan and about 5 inchs from blades the paper doesn't move either. I bought the three blade fan thinking it would work better. Not impressed. I know someone who has an older 2 blade and theirs will lift up off stove if stove gets to hot. This one doesn't do that.

I recently purchased the fan. I contacted the vendor through a link on the Amazon e-mail I received. I am trying to use the fan on a pellet stove. The stove dose not generate enough heat to make it run fast. The fan turns slow or not at all. Its a nice fan, and I liked the fact that it did not need electricity to run. I did not hear from the vendor. Hopefully I get some feedback this time. Please reply, Thank You.
