| I received the home electrolysis almost three weeks ago and used it immediately. I guess I had the setting set to high and I burned the skin slightly and formed a few scabs where the skin had been pierced. I have had similary experiences at the salon as well so it was nothing new, but I have noticed no hair regrowth as of yet and its been almost three weeks so I am very pleased with the product. |

| I love this product. It works so well. Yes it is tedious, and there is a little discomfort, but it's no more painful than plucking and you don't have to shave ever again (which I used to do every other day). It's the best thing and I don't know how I lived without it. |
A test of patience.

I bought this and it works to its desired level.
Pros: It saves you about $200 an hour from seeing an actual electrolysis technician. It is easy, quick (on a per-hair basis),convenient, and a pretty fast learning curve.
Cons: In the same way that it is quick on a per-hair basis, it takes forever to do a whole section of ones body. 45 minutes barely finished a 1 x 1 patch. Second, the burns, the chances of getting burnt are high in the beginning. Third, the amount of time it takes to clear an area!
Other thoughts: Make sure you are following the instructions and moistening your fingers prior to use, and keeping them moist. You know the hair is done when you tweeze it and it slides right out and you don't feel a thing. Something else to bear in mind, make sure the probe is entering the follicle, you do not slide it against the hair, it has got to slide right into the follicle. Push it against the base of the hair, when it has penetrated the follicle two things should happen 1) the machine will emit a high-pitched tone, and 2)You will feel a tingle of varying intensity based upon the power setting you have chosen. I noticed that a whole bunch of white fluid bubbled out of the follicle when I did it, but it washes away. The thing is, is that it takes time and patience. Ultimately I have decided to switch to a campaign of body waxing, simply because it is faster, but the electrolysis is still on standby for those few-rogue hairs. |

I didn't have this brand, but it looks like the one I had, so was probably bought out by another company.
Important suggestion #1:
If the hair is not in a growth phase, the treatment won't work. Do NOT pull out the hair and don't cut/shave it to the surface of the skin. simply, trim it back just a bit and give it a couple of days for regrowth to be stimulated. It helps to have a bit of length just to get a sense of the correct angle to insert the stylus. Then, go to work.
Important suggestion #2:
Do not store the unit with the battery in it. Granted, I left mine unused for a VERY LONG time, so because the battery was inside, battery corrosion damaged it so badly that things broke off when I tried to take the battery out.
Best of luck!

| Excellent item--this one actually does what it says. Must follow directions carefully or you can create scarring. This is my second of this type of unit. The other one lasted ten years. Laser hair removal is great for many areas, but it has limitations. This fills that gap! |
I think it's great!

The main thing to know about doing at home electrolysis is to start out on a low setting. Most people will scar for long periods of time if you go over a 5. I keep mine set to a 3 or 4 and I have super thick hairs. I made the mistake of starting out on an a 7 and 8 in some areas and am still healing 6 months later, luckily it was an area that can be hidden by clothing. Also, under no circumstance should you go over a 4 on the face, usually stay between a 2 and 3 for the face.
Other tips are to buy lots of extra stylet tips. If the tip bends its no good and you'll need another one.
Replace the battery often. The device is most effective with a well charged battery.
Sometimes if the hair is really thick you'll have to hold the stylet tip in for up to 1 minute. Turning the stylet tip and moving it up and down can help.
You might need to do several treatments if the hair is really thick, so don't feel discouraged.
It took me a while to get used to using the product but I'm starting to get the hang of it and it is working. You just need to have patients and a lot of time.
And last but not least, it really doesn't hurt. It might sting slightly but it's not painful. |
Effective, but takes patience and time

| I started using this product back in the 90's and am familiar with most of the experiences in the other reviews. I've had success on some hairs and had to retreat others where I hadn't reached the hair follicle the first time. I've read that some of the follicles grow at odd angles so are harder to reach. It is hit or miss. The needles seem to be a bit more customer-proofed to keep one from 'piercing the skin'; the needle is retractable so it isn't able to enter the pore so I've had to superglue the needle at its base to keep it from moving while I insert it into the pore. The beeping noises don't bother me; the instructions set the expectations for the product. Overall I think it is a good product and works pretty well; but you are not going to be successful with every hair the first time and unfortunately, you are going to bend the needles from time to time. It can be painful depending where you use it but the trade-off is the hair does not grow back if you reach the follicle and kill it. Only half my chin hairs grew back from last time; so I am working on them little by little until they are gone. Good product overall if you are willing to be patient and endure the way the product works. |

I just received mine from cache beauty.
I am impressed, I got it in 2 days without the extra shipping charges.
I have not used it yet. I am aware that it may be painful, but I hope it works, I love the idea of saving time without any extra hassle of personal hygiene.
But from the instructions you need refills of the stylet tip. The stylet tip is this small metal needle thread thin tip you insert in your hair follicle to deliver the electrical charge.
I looked around, amazon has them and so do other sites. Advertised as One Touch Stylet Tips. 2 for about $6.00, depending who you purchase them from.
And it seems you may need a lighted magnifying mirror to make sure you can see and insert the tip inside your hair follicle.
To use it you have to clean skin and tip with isopropyl alcohol {easy to purchase in any store} before use.
The instructions say that you have to switch the stylet tip if more than one person were to use the electrolysis pen.
Also, you have to moisten your fingers with a salt solution to help conduct the current properly. {salt solution: 1/2 teaspoon of salt in 1 cup of water}
And the instructions say that you should only treat one square inch at a time.
Time for me to find out if it works. |

| This product works ok for the price, but you have to have a lot of patient, but that's the problem with that method of electrolysis anyway. There's two kinds, this type and the type where you don't need moisture to operate the machine. I have gone to a professional that uses this method and she told me right of the bat that they method just generally takes more time. That being said it works pretty good, machines get rid of the hair and if you don't have my type of hair it doesn't grow for a while. My biggest problem were to little needles that it came with, constantly bends and you have to replace them, but if you don't mind that than you are in business. |
The Salt Water Threw Me Off!!!

| Reviewer: StephMD, College Park, MD |
| It definitely works but the salt water makes it hard to focus on the root of the hair. If there is too much salt, it shocks too hard and too fast. The stylus sometimes moves in and out of its opening, making it hard to insert it into the follicle at times. If you miss your follicle you creat a huge gash in the location at hand. As a result of all this hassle, I will revert to seeing my cosmetologist :). |

To really consider the product read reviews

| Before buying this product look CLOSELY at whatever place you want to remove the hair. Now consider this: Are you willing to make a salt/water solution to wet your fingures continuously, while you take a small needle (that is thinner than a sewing needle) carefully placing it at EACH ONE individual hair, hold it there for 15 seconds while it causes you some boderline pain discomfort, then twizzer it out, and do that for every hair that you want removed. You also have to repeat the process if the hair does not easily remove, and it could grow back later on. Take a good look at that spot, because they advise not to remove more than 1sq inch of hair at a time in one area. Are you desperate? Do you have hours of time to spare? If you want to know an approximate time that this product might take you try counting the hairs you want to remove, and times that by 15 secs, and divide that by 60 to get how many minutes or divide by 120 for hours (if your like me youll need hours lol). If you can imagin yourself holding EACH hair for 15 seconds then this product is for you. |

| the fact that it could take forever to use this product and get results is ok for me, but it didn't work for me at all. First of all, you have to use a salt water solution to enable the electric circuit, and this is a huge pain in the butt. maybe i wasn't doing it right because I hardly ever felt any of the laser shock that you are supposed to feel, even on the highest setting. I felt it a few times but the hair didn't come out effortlessly as it should when the hair follicle dies. so needless to say, I got no results, tried to use it many times, spent a lot of saltwater, and now I'm going to look for a product that actually works if I spend a little more money for it. |

| I ordered this & it was shipped quickly enough, but it's a cheap little battery operated thing that should of cost $10.00. You have to insert a little plastic needle into the hair follicle which is near impossible. The unit didn't work even with the power turned up full blast. I didn't return it because I'd already tossed the box. Don't bother |

!WARNING! The item is not at all what is described, as far as how to use it or how it works. I even contacted the manufacturer; their response was to suggest ways to "make it work" anyway. ---WHAT!!!???---
American International Industries
1-800-621-9585
Stephanie, Isabel, Erma
Example:
the paperwork states to insert probe where the hair grows, and when it is in the proper place (hair follicle), you will feel the current. It goes further to state that if you do not feel it, move the probe a little to get the right place until the current starts.
In reality, the current is CONSTANT. As soon as the probe touches your skin, you will feel it. So, what that means is that you will never know if it is in the right place, because it does not matter if it is in contact with hair follicle or not. Furthermore, THIS WILL BURN YOUR SKIN! NO current should begin prematurely, especially before you even get the probe inserted.
The manufactures response was to simply disregard the written instructions and not touch the "conducting pad" until you are ready for current to begin.
That is just one example. Many more MAJOR issues that manufacturer simply suggests to NOT follow the written directions and "do it this way instead".
Manufacturer confirmed that exchange would not be helpful, because all of the machines work this way. They would not consider refunding.
Amazon refunded me with no problems, even the shipping. |

| Weird. This thing is weird. It's not at all what I was expecting. My mother had an electrolysis kit in the 1970's that consisted of a pair of electric tweezers, and it would give you a little shock, but it worked! This thing is whimpy at best. Don't expect to do a lot of work with it. It's time consuming and just plain weird. |
Never again...

I'll never use this product again nor recommend it to anybody.
Prior to purchasing this electrolysis kit, I plucked my beard and eyebrows with a pair of pliers... I had no problem dealing with that pain, since the alternative is shaving every night before going to bead to avoid rubbing my shoulders and neck raw with my stubble. Plucking would last a little over a week and left not stubble.
However, using the electrolysis device felt like being stung continuously by a bee, except with an extremely annoying BEEP noise the whole time. BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP. I used it on sections of my beard, mustache, between my eyebrows, and even the fine hairs on the back of one of my knuckles (just to get a broader range of results). None of it showed ANY significant results, for the numerous tries over the course of the past three months. I made sure to use the solution of water and salt, made sure the batteries weren't low, started on a low setting for 15-20 seconds, and then try to pluck the hair. If it didn't just slide out, I'd kick the power up to 5-7 and try to pull the hair out again. When that didn't work, I cranked it all the way to 10 (the max setting) and SOMETIMES the hair would finally just slide out the follicle. And even then it didn't seem to work, cause by the next week or so, I'd have another hair growing out of the tiny scar/pit in my skin. It just seemed to make the oily substance from my sebaceous glands BOIL. The only place that seemed to show progress (the fine hairs on the backs of my knuckles) are STILL PINK FROM THE SCARRING OF THREE MONTHS AGO, AND ONLY 1/10 OF THE HAIR STAYED GONE. That was just my knuckle, everywhere else is still seems just as hairy. Also, when I tried it between my eyebrows, I'd go blind for half of a second every time the device sent a pulse of electricity through me... I'm not an optometrist, but I'll assert that there's no way that could be good for my vision.
So to recap and sum it all up: Annoyingly loud BEEP while it feels like being stung by a bee, scars lasted more than two months, virtually no results after 3 months of usage on 4 half-square-inch areas, messed with vision when done on the eyebrows, made the oil in my skin boil, and is significantly more of a hassle for me than just pulling out my beard with rusty pliers. |
