Great Starter Kit.

Review Date: March 28, 2008
Reviewer: Robert Wright, Detroit
This is a great starter kit.
First, a quick analytical review:
Pharmaceutical grade salt includes a tiny spoon for measurement. Using the pot twice daily, two rinses each nostril for about a month has depleted a bit over half of the salt in my container. The herbal tincture is an added bonus.
The pot itself is a tad awkward in that when full the shallow, wide design can lead to dumping water out the top rather than the spout. The solution is to wait for the sinus chamber to fill with water and start draining before tilting your head and the pot further. I mix a solution of lukewarm water in a separate graduated container and transfer it to the neti pot. Though I worried I would break the ceramic pot almost immediately, I don't like the idea of putting warm, plasticy water up my nose, so I went with ceramic and I still haven't managed even to chip it.

Now, the part that really matters:
This thing works. I suffer from what my doctor describes as "chronic sinusitis with acute allergic rhinitis". She's prescribed Astelin, Flonase, Clarinex, etc. None of these were effective and some of them led to nosebleeds, extreme sore spots and a virtual rainbow of ineffable nasal jetsam. These medications contain some pretty powerful drugs that I'd rather not be shooting into deep cavities in my head which, I assume, are pretty darn close to where I keep my brain. How about... lukewarm salt water? Nice.

When I've just used my neti pot I'm amazed at how clear my sinuses are and how acute my sense of smell can be. I breathe deeper and feel better. The cleaning process is not attractive but it is terribly effective. If you suffer from sinus headaches, uncontrollable sneezing fits, suffer from congestion, sinusitis, rhinitis etc., you owe it to yourself to try this product or one like it. I purchased this product thru Amazon Prime and received it next day. I was 5 days into a cold and had heard about using the Neti pot to help the healing process. After it arrived, I used the Neti Pot in the morning and evening and I experienced relief in my nasal passages. This kit comes with the salts and a special tincture, that has zinc and some other healing herbs in it. I did experience immediate relief as well as a shorten duration of my cold. There is a small learning curve the first time using, but after that I used it with ease. (It comes with directions). It is like getting water up your nose when swimming in the ocean, a little uncomfortable, but that goes away quickly and then it feels good.
Actually works.

This thing actually works to open up your sinus cavities. I would recommend to anyone who has allergies or just wants to breath clearer. I let everyone in my family try it and they want one for themselves now. You have to try it to believe it works. Just make sure you read the instructions carefully and do not rush it.
Finally allergy relief!

I've been suffering with Allergic Rhinitis for 14 years. While flying in the Air Force I was required to medicate with nasal steroids to manage my allergies and reduce possibilities of ear block and rupture on decent. I'm now retired and studying medicine and know too much to willfully inhale or ingest most synthetic based meds if there's a plausible alternative. The trade off is that without the steroids I suffer debilitating attacks, sometimes weekly, all year long. This all stopped when I accepted the word of colleague and tried a Neti Pot. I believe that most saline solutions would help, but personally support the immune enhancing zinc compound included with the kit. It may take a few tries before you master the technique but once you do you'll be surprised by how quickly you complete the task. Try this product and enhance your health and quality of life with out risk of side affects.
Amazing product - relief at last

This product is truly amazing. It helps clear out accumulated mucus and opens up the nasal passages. I can now breathe easily through both nostrils. I've been able to give up the steady diet of Excedrin because of constant headaches; I've also give up Mucinex. You can really feel clean and refreshed after using this. I use twice daily, sometimes a third treatment if there is more accumulated mucus to flush out of my system. It only takes a few uses to get the hang of it. Read the directions because it's important that the water be warm, not hot and not cold. Extreme water temperatures can make your sinus problems worse. I strongly recommend this product. Thanks to Oprah and Oz for bringing it to my attention.

I have had problems with my sinus's for as long as I can remember. My doctor has tried drug after drug to give me some relief, all of which would work for a few weeks at best, then my body would adapt to them and they would stop working. I have been using my new neti pot for just a few days, and it actually killed a sinus headache! I'm so excited about this product, I'm buying one for my sister now, who has worse sinus problems than me. My only complaint about the neti pot is the fact that there is a learning curve to using it, at first, if you do it wrong, it is like getting pool water up your nose while swimming, but within a few days, I'm using it like a pro. I am going to be telling my doctor all about it on my next visit, so maybe he can spread the word to other people like me. If you have sinus problems that ruin your day, please try this item, you will be happy that you did!!!!

I have had imflamed sinuses for over 30 years. I have been treated for allergies with antibiotics, but with no success; unless you consider yeast overgrowth a success! I have been using the neti pot for about two months now. I know this condition will not clear over night, but I definately know it is steadily improving. I only use the salt with my water, and have had a small healing crisis. I was in bed and could not stop coughing, I got up and blew my nose. The kleenex was bloody, but I felt calm and comfortable, and slept perfectly the rest of the night. I only wish I had heard of this device 30 years ago. If you have sinus problems you cannot get rid of, stay away form the drugs, they only suppress the symptoms, and you will only get worse over time. This device finally is offering me hope of a cure.
I was sceptical, but I can't live w/o it now.

I have issues breathing clearly and went to an ENT to find that I have severe nasal allergies as well as sinus cavity problems and sinus polyps. The only solution for this is removal/surgery. I'm terrified of the idea of surgery, so I figured that I would give this a try.

This product has a learning curve. After a week of use, I finally got the hang on it and could use it to my satisfaction. I prefer warmer water and more salt than they recommend. If I didn't know better, I would say that using more salt makes the polyps shrink and disappear. At least, that is how it feels.

Even when I wasn't using the product completely "correctly", I had immediate relief and found that I could breath very well. One other thing that it has prevented is my usual sinus infection after visiting my parents and we've been back from their place for almost a week. I'm usually sick by now.
WONDERFUL PRODUCT LOVE IT!

I WAS USING MEDICATION EVERY NIGHT TO BE ABLE TO BREATH WHILE I SLEPT. SINCE USING THE NETI POT I HAVE NOT NEEDED THEM ONE TIME. I WISH I WOULD HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THIS YEARS AGO. IT TAKES A COUPLE OF TIMES TO GET YOUR TECHNIQUE DOWN AND AFTER THAT ITS SO EASY TO USE.

Two things I've found out - this works, and a lot more people have Neti pots than you'd think. My sinuses are awful. They go off for any reason: pollution, cat hair, bad vibes. You just get into the rhythm of using this and before you know it you can actually SMELL again. It's uncomfortable to use at first. Not the stuffing the ceramic thing up your nose - that's a sure reminder of early childhood. Probably a great way to work out your issues, if you have them. Anyway, it's the 'crawlies' you get up the back of your neck when the water hits that bit right near your brain. Really unpleasant. You are supposed to hold still while the water works it's way from one sinus passage to the other. Sure. Until the crawlies hit. Then you simultaneously try to rub the back of your neck, stand still, and NOT blow water out your nose. Do yourself a favor and get used to this over the bathtub. It can get messy.

I am pleased to tell you that the crawlies DO go away after a while. Warm water makes it better, too. This kit has everything in it you need: salt, super duper liquid stuff, instructions and pot. Get the kit - it's cheaper than buying the Neti Wash separately, and it does make a difference if you have a cold, or are just particularly snotty the day you use it. The instructions have some helpful Yoga positions you can assume to help blow water out of your nose. If you get really good at it you can make a serious impact on the sink. This is probably unhealthy, so don't do that.

I think Neti pots are a single user deal, like with toothbrushes. It's up to you. If you love your partner so much you'd share all their various personal hygiene devices, I guess sharing a Neti pot isn't an issue. It's not like the thing get's nasty - it's really very clean. But I am NOT sharing mine.

My kit arrived today and I couldn't wait to sit down and share my love for this product with those of you who are on the fence regarding the Neti Pot.

If you follow the directions in the box, and they're not complicated, it doesn't burn and it doesn't hurt. You get a bit of the water-up-the-nose feeling at first (like you just jumped in a swimming pool), but it quickly recedes.

I purchased this product because I couldn't seem to get over a cold and because I have persistent and serious year-round allergies. By "serious" I mean the kind of allergies that wake you up, sneezing, at 3 am and then keep you up. After a single use, I can tell that this little pot is going to drastically improve how I feel. When I read the reviews that say it works better after you've been doing it for awhile, I'm filled with glee because I cannot remember ever having breathed so easily. It's like I have a whole new nose. I can feel the increased resonance in my sinuses, I can smell better, and I can even hear better. I'm amazed and most of all, grateful. While it's true that, as an allergy sufferer, I may be more sensitive to the status of my ears, nose, and throat than most, I still think that if you're on the fence, you should give it a shot. My husband tried it right after I did and felt exactly as I did. I've also tried the saline squeeze-bottles you can get at the drugstore and they don't compare.

I never posted a review to Amazon.com before, but I feel no qualms about giving this nifty little pot five stars.
wow I can even hear better

I was having a lot of trouble with allergies and several friends recommended a neti pot. Being at wits end, I decided to bite the bullet and order this set. It took me a few days to actually get over the odd idea of pouring water into my nose, but eventually the allergies were just too great.

Anyway, the first time I used this, I put in the recommended amount of salt - this was way too much. As another reviewer mentioned, you want to cut the amount of salt in half otherwise your nasal passages will burn with the pain of a thousand fiery suns. This is not a desired result.

Getting my head into the right position seemed second nature - the directions were pretty descriptive and easy to follow. However one should take care and remember to tilt the head otherwise the water will go down your throat.

But the strangest and best thing, for me, was what happened after. My ears started popping as the sinus cavity cleared. This and of itself isn't strange however my tinnitus (light but present) went away for a little while after! In fact I found that by using the neti pot every day, my tinnitus, while still there, was greatly lessened.

I don't know if this is common, but I'm quite happy with the purchase.

This Neti pot sinus cleansing kit has delivered more relief than anything I've ever tried for my nasal allergies. Wouldn't be without it. At night I can breathe freely through my nose - something I could not say prior to my regular use of this Neti pot kit. My doctor advised me to try this (she also prescribed Flonase, which I take at night). If you have ongoing problems with nasal inflammation and congestion, give this a try.

This is the first review I have ever written because I really want people to know how helpful this little pot is. I usually have a head cold and sinus infections that start in November and last through April. Not this year though! I received my Neti Pot Starter Kit right at the onset of a bad head cold. Now, this really was the perfect test for this little device. Both my nostrils were completely clogged and blowing my nose would only help for a few seconds until my ears popped and then I was completely congested again. I used the Neti Pot and was amazed after the first use. My head cleared, my ears popped, I had my balance back, and I felt ALOT better. My head cold didn't disappear, but I never had to use any cold medicines or antihistamines. And most importantly, the cold and congestion didn't move to my chest like it usually does. I think it's important to mention that I am a pack a day smoker. The cold was completely gone after 10 days! I don't know if the Zinc drops that come with this kit helped or not, and I don't really care. I still use them and the Neti Pot twice a day now. This thing really works and it has improved my quality of life. The process is as easy as watering a plant and takes as long as brushing your teeth, don't be afraid. I plan on using mine everyday the rest of my life. I can't say that about many things. Ok, I hope that was helpful. One more thing, if you're going to buy a Neti Pot, please purchase one from The Himalayan Institute. Your money will be going to an excellent cause and you'll get the best Neti Pot out there. Happy breathing!

I've been hearing about this thing for the past year or so and recently some people have recommended it to me because of my year-long allergies. I was at the end of my rope and decided to overcome my fear of drowning and buy a Neti Pot. It was so worth it! It's so easy to do and clears my head. I've only been using it a couple of weeks, but the difference is so pronounced! It can't hurt to try and I guarantee you'll love it!!!

Sidelining the sniffles

Review Date: June 17, 2009
Reviewer: Catherine K. Brown,
I've had allergies for as long as I can remember. I guess you could call them seasonal allergies, but they never completely go away. At worst, they make me sneeze and itch, cause my eyes to water, and give me a headache. (That's when I take Clariton-D.)

At best, my only symptom is sniffling, and I end up blowing my nose a lot (probably about 10 times a day). It doesn't really bother me, except when I wake up in the morning to sing. I've typically cleared things out with a warm shower and hot tea, but I recently discovered a new tool that I love - the neti pot.

Yogis have been using neti pots for millennia to clear their nasal passages prior to yoga and meditation. The practice is gaining popularity in the West as one of a few alternative treatments that has been endorsed by the medical establishment for treating allergies, colds, and sinusitis. Here's a brief summary of the concepts behind it:

* The nasal passages act as the body's air filtering system, keeping dirt, dust, germs, and pollen from entering the airways. Nasal cleansing is like changing (or at least cleaning) the body's air filters.
* When nasal mucus gets thick, dry, thin, or runny, "it is easier for bacteria and viruses to penetrate the nasal lining and cause the swelling and excess discharge of mucus we call a 'cold'" (according to the Himalayan Institute).
* Running warm saline solution through the nasal passages can treat and prevent sinus problems, colds, allergies, and post-nasal drip and counteract the effect of environmental pollution.

Using the neti pot is simple, if a bit unsavory:

* Add warm water and 1/4 teaspoon non-iodized salt to pot.
* Standing over sink, tilt head to one side and pour solution into one nostril as it flows out through the other.
* Remove pot and blow air out through each nostril.
* Repeat process on opposite side.

When I first got my neti pot, I hated it. I had read wonderful things about it and expected more than the uncomfortable feeling of salt water up my nose! However, I've now been using it for about a month, and it really is amazing.

My nasal passages feel much cleaner and clearer, and I blow my nose far less often. In fact, I recently got the flu (complete with a horrible sore throat and swollen vocal cords), but my nasal passages stayed surprisingly clear. I use the neti pot every day, but some people prefer to use it "as needed" following a cold, after air travel, or during pollen season.

Himalayan Neti Pot kit was such a good thing for me to buy. My nose is not so dry and it feels so much better. I some times use the salt and other times use the other product witht the salt that comes with it. I new salt helped sore throats by my grandma telling me but did not think of being able to use it in my nose. I have used spray even saline but this Nedi pot warm water feels so good going in and out of my nose. I heat my water at 25 seconds in microwave, it is just right for me. I am so glad I bought it and I use it every day. We live in AZ where it is dry most of the time. It also gets so hot in the summer. It is windy a lot and that also drys out your nose. I can breathe so much better.

I have terrible allergies and sinuses. I have received allergy shots for 5 years and have been on allergy meds since I was child (I'm 34 now). I learned about this product from watching Dr. Oz on Oprah. I absolutely LOVE this product. Within a week of using it I noticed a difference. It did take a couple times to get used to the feeling of the water going through your sinuses but it didn't hurt. My advice would be to use half a pot for each nostril to start until you get used to it. I add a little less salt too to refrain from it burning. I strongly suggest this product if you are an allergy/sinus sufferer. I have made it through hayfever season w/o going on any antibiotics (thus far).

This Neti pot is great! I had never used one before I purchased this one and I'm very happy that I gave it a try. Sure, it was a little odd at first, but my sinuses felt clearer after the first time that I tried it! I've been using it before bed every night and I don't feel as stuffy when i wake up in the morning. It has also helped to prevent the nosebleeds that I get every year when the heat dries out the air. I've been using it almost a week now and I've had a huge improvement. I can't wait to see how much better it gets as I use it longer!

This is a great starter set since it has everything that I need all together in one box. It has detailed instructions that are easy to follow. Also, there are a bunch of videos on YouTube that show people using their Neti pots and they really helped me to do it correctly the first time. I'm so glad that I gave this a try!

***UPDATE***: After having very uncomfortable results using my neti pot at my mother's house (who has a well with water softener), I discovered that using distilled water with the neti works very well. i just put water in a glass measuring cup with a pour spout, microwave the water for 30 seconds, and then it is the perfect temperature for neti.
I love this product

I have known about the Neti idea for a long time, but yeah, it was Oprah and Oz that lit a fire under my butt. I have had a cold and then sinus congestion for four months, so finally got my order in. The first thing I can say is that this is an absolutely beautiful little kit, packaged just perfectly for giving as a gift. I loved the quality and design of the pot itself, and the good size of the salt and zinc drops. The instructions are simple but adequate. As some people say it takes a try or two to get all the angles right and not panic when you feel water filling up your passages. (Anyone who didn't like to dive in swimming classes will know what I mean!). On top of that, I couldn't get it to work the first time because my sinuses were so impacted the water actually could not flow all the way through! So I did what I could from each side, and was kinda disgusted by the 'stuff' that it loosened up..later I tried it again and got a little further with the process. It was hard to believe but I felt better and the next day when I tried it again, there was already enough improvement for it to work perfectly on both nostrils. I am already convinced this is the answer I have been looking for, and just wish I had not waited so long to get started! We should all be doing our neti, right along with brushing our teeth...then maybe we wouldn't need a blue zillion cold and sinus products taking up a whole isle in the grocery stores!

It works and only one scoop of the salt is necessary. More than that will sting. Follow the instructions regarding the positioning of your head while cleaning your nostril. Otherwise, it DOES go to the back of the throat. Be consistent in use to maintain clear sinuses.

Perfect starter kit

Review Date: December 13, 2009
Reviewer: K. Avalo,
This starter kit contains everything you need to get going. I went for the kit over the single pot because I didn't want the hassle of searching for the right kind of salt, and wanted directions on how to use it right away. The little ceramic pot is cute and sturdy, the salt will certainly last a while, and the bonus (besides instructions) is the herbal extract liquid dropper addition.

The only con is that, while all the items are made in the USA, the ceramic pot is not, it's made in China. Also, the liquid dropper leaves a very sour smell in your nose for a little while after the cleansing. At first I thought my whole house smelled and I could finally tell it reaked! But my husband also had a similar experience while still in another room using the neti pot with the herbal extract liquid.

Overall, a great, ancient tool to clear the sinuses. GIVE IT A TRY! What do you have to lose? It's not terribly comfortable or fun, but the results are great. And if you hate it that much, you can always just season your food with the salt, and water your plants with the pot.
Wonderful Product.

It takes a little while to get used to the water circulating through the nose , and I have swallowed my fair share of water while trying to perfect the technique. But it is not hard at all to to get it down pat and the results are heavenly.

It does work on my sinuses quite nicely. When I did use the pot for the first time it did feel odd to have water flowing out of my nose (that and it didn't help it was to warm). If you get over the 0_o feeling it works wonders.

I first tried my spouse's Neti Pot and after a few tries, I was sold and had to get my own (so that we wouldn't have to sterilize between uses). It was a really great way to clear up the congestion from my cold, and I'm convinced the misery of my cold was over faster due to the Neti Pot. Before trying it, I was always scared of this idea of pouring anything through my nose. If you've ever snorted anything through your nose with laughter, you know how it can burn. Done correctly, there is no burning with the neti pot. In fact, once you get used to the unusual sensation, it can feel soothing and relaxing. At times, it does bring back memories of swimming underwater however. One thing you do have to be careful about is accidentally swallowing the salt-water concoction. On my first try, I somehow ended up with a lot of water going down my throat. I do not want to be graphic, so let's just say it didn't stay down there. However, that never happened again after I figured out how to use the product.

The instruction manual is extensive, but if you need more information, you can google neti pot and get a lot of tips.

Not as strange a feeling as I expected when I tried this product... it was really quite easy and not uncomfortable at all. I was definitely pleased with the results! You don't realize how much better you can smell things until you try it with clean sinuses. The kit has everything you need to get going for a reasonable price. Would definitely recommend this, especially for those with allergy or sinus problems. I suffer from neither, however, and have also benefitted from using the Neti pot.
Great intro kit

Before getting this kit, I tried cleaning my sinuses with plain old table salt and an oversized eyedropper sort of thing I had around. And it was torture. This kit provides all the right tools to perform this practice as safely and comfortably as possible. There's also a very clear, helpful guide that talks about everything from how much salt to mix with the water to tips for breathing while pouring water up your nose.

Yes, it feels a little like you're drowning at first. But it gets easier over time, and this kit really helps.

If I had one tiny complaint, it would be that I think they suggest just mixing it up right in the pot. When I do that, I often have trouble making sure all the salt dissolves fully. It only takes one round of undissolved salt in your nose (Think ocean water up your nose!) to help you remember to really dissolve the salt every time. So I have gone back to mixing it in a clear glass container, then pouring it in.
Wish I'd gotten it sooner.

I ordered this product while in the midst of a terrible cold that was hanging on and driving me nuts. The first day I used it I was able to get a lot of mess out of my sinuses right away and I could tell an enormous difference. I feel that it helped me avoid sinusitis from that virus and helped me feel better right away. I now use it about every other day; the winter dryness bothers me and using this product really helps. Buy one, you won't regret it!

I was a little skeptical at first, but it works like a dream! My husband and I were both sick with a sinus cold at the same time. He took night/day quill and I used only the neti pot. I was feeling better 3 days earlier than he was and use it periodically when my sinuses feel stuffy. I don't do it every day as the directions describe, but it is very nice to clear your sinuses before yoga and pilates. I would recommend this to anyone who is even a little curious about it! :)

I was at first a little skeptical about nasal washing but being a allergy sufferer and recently had a septoplasty, I thought I give it a try and since it is drug free which gives it more of a plus. Great for cleaning out pollen, dust, and anything else that can irritate nasal passages. It can help clear out some congestion too. If you are heavily congested, you won't be able to rinse your nose out until it clears enough to rinse out the other side. Make sure that you don't put too much salt than it says cause it can burn and make sure you stir it up well too cause you can get a big glop of salt at once! I also use sea salt which works just as well too(about 1/4 tsp or less). I usually use it 2-3 times a day or less depending how much I need it. Works good when you are sick too to help clean out your nose and moisturizes too. For some, it may be hard to get use to or feel strange at first but once you get the idea on how to use it, it shouldn't take no more than a couple of minutes to do it and it's best to blow your nose (after rinsing w/the neti pot) a couple of times to get out the rinse & whatever it has loosened up! I like to use warm water (tap water) not too hot depending on what you prefer, cold water doesn't seem to feel as soothing as warm plus w/warm it dissolves better too.

I was worried at first because the item description said the package will come with Zinc added kit. The company listened to the concerns of their customers and included Zinc-free aroma kit instead! If you are worried about zinc going into your nose and possibly ruining your smelling capability, this kit includes zinc-free aromatic one.

As for the product goes, it is very weird experience at first. I felt stupid and weird to put tip of a pot into my nose but it really works to cleanse your nasal passage. You will be disgusted at what comes out of your nose! I feel like I can smell things a lot better and I now breathe through my nose instead of my mouth. I hope I don't get addicted with this routine. Follow the instruction included and you don't have to worry about a thing! It works!!

I Can Smell Again

Reviewer: WILLIAM MCLEAN, Medford, OR USA
I have had a very poor olfactory sense (smell) most of my adult years. I'm 71. After only a few days of saline irrigation I have become acutely aware of smells everywhere I go. This is totally new to me.

But let me tell you what I actually did:
First, I went to the drug store and purchased an Infant Ear Syringe. At home I mixed 1/4 teaspoon of ordinary table salt with two cups of warm water. I used this until the Neti Pot Kit arrived four days later. This worked for me - I'm not sensitive to iodine. But note that the Ear Syringe cost about $3.00 and is made of rubber. It couldn't possibly last more than three months of regular use.

Anyway, I'm real happy with this kit. The Neti Pot works better than the Ear Syringe and will certainly last much longer. And I don't have to worry about something growing inside the syringe - I can better clean the Neti Pot. The little bottle of Net Wash is nice and may help protect me from future sinus infections. I ordered an extra tub of salt because it is probably more pure than the salt at the market.

I certainly will make nasal irrigation a regular routine mornings and evenings. I wish I had known about this many years ago.
Simple to use!

My MD prescribed $200 worth of antibiotics and decongestants when I got bronchitis and a sinus infection last winter. I couldn't bring myself to spend the money so I did some reading on WebMD, which advocates nasal irrigation and decided to try it. I kicked both and now use the neti pot whenever I get that not-so-fresh feeling in my sinuses. I haven't been able to find neti wash locally but more salt is easy to come by.

My advice, which wasn't really well articulated in the pamphlet, is to heed the measurements (too much salt will burn, too little salt and your sinuses will close all up) and persist. I'm not sure how to talk about snot without being gross, but if you're finding that you can't get a flow going, pause, give a couple of good hard toots through both nostrils and then resume. Keep doing that until you can get it flowing. If you stop when you're stopped up you'll just have sinus discomfort all day.

SinuCleanse Nasal Wash System, Unbreakable Neti Pot With Salt Packets

I didn't get much sinus relief from the Neti Pot, but it is a good way to wash out your sinus cavity. Who would believe that you can make yourself a fountain in your bathroom mirror? That is, you can pour water into one nostril, breathe through your mouth, and see the water come back out the opposite nostril. We should've seen this in high school science class.

My wife wanted to investigate the Neti Pot phenomenon after seeing it on an episode of Oprah featuring Dr. Oz. Apparently the combination of Oz and O was enough to convince her that Neti was the way to survive the winter and dry house here in the northeast.

After much research she decided to order the Complete Neti Pot set from Himalayn Institute. The kit comes with a ceramic pot, noniodized salt and zinc suspension. After overcoming the initial strangeness of having water pour from your nostrils, we have both come to feel the benefits of this system, and now we Neti daily.

I wish that it came with a greater supply of the zinc suspension and/or salt.
Perfect (Yet Breakable . . .)

I'm buying this to replace its exact likeness after breaking it during a move. It's ceramic, so there are no sharp edges to scratch my nostils, like some of the plastic and metal neti pots do. BUT, it's ceramic, so it takes a lot of TLC. Also, the salt mix is perfect and the ceramic pot holds the heat of just plain tap water when I use it. I use one full pot of water for each nostril when I'm ill, but use half a pot per nostril daily when I'm not ill. It also removes sawdust, sand and dirt after I've been working in the garage or outdoors.
Good Neti Pot But Remember To Inspect!

Reviewer: Bridgette O'brien-miller, Wisconsin
I was very pleased with this kit. The salt was good quality and the the neti wash plus was very gentle and didn't irritate my nose at all. The pot is very nice but my one complaint is, prior to use, I inspected the pot carefully and notices a small foreign piece of ceramic that was slightly glazed down on the inside of the pot. I gentle pulled it off and my fear is that if I hadn't it would have eventually dislodge on it's own due to the use of warm water (it was not on very tightly) and travel through the spot and into the nasal cavity (Not a good idea!) Stuff like this happens all the time and I just want to make other customers to be aware to inspect there pots carefully before use!

The neti pot did wonders for my cold and post-nasal drip, but if you are prone to ear infections or have sensitive inner ears, use this product with caution, as it can cause some moderate pain. Blowing your nose more lightly after use can lessen discomfort in the ears.
Helpful product, zinc-free wash would be nice

Review Date: September 10, 2009
Reviewer: muybookish,
The kit is a nice introduction to using a nasal wash system. Detailed instructions are provided. I like this particular pot because the spout/opening is wider than many of the plastic, drug store neti pots I've previously used, so no worries of poking and hurting my nose or water leakage.
My one concern is with the zinc nasal wash. There is some concern that intra-nasal use of zinc can cause anosmia, or the inability to detect smells. That might sound minor, but not being able to smell smoke or determine if your food is stale is no joke. Much of the concern was in regard to Zicam products, which uses zinc gluconate. The neti wash uses zinc acetate. I think it's best to use the wash only when you're experiencing cold symptoms. It would be nice, though, to see the zinc-free wash included in future kits. Overall, I'm pleased with the product.

The first few times I used this, my sinuses felt great. Additionally, I had the onset of a sinus headache and instead of reaching for the ibuprophen, I reached for my Neti Pot. It instantly relieved the pressure and I didn't have to pop any pills.

However, I found that using it on a daily basis that my sinuses were clear but that I had a very nasal sound to my voice and that it felt there was some salt water left behind.

I have reduced my usage to once or twice a week and it seems to keep the sinuses happy while not keeping them soggy.

I figure that you just need to figure out what kind of usage works for you.

NetiPot- Seems like Swimming

Review Date: January 7, 2010
Reviewer: P. Chen, LA, USA
I just used the neti pot today... I have to say it does feel weird with water into your nose and sometimes into your mouth if you dont position it right. Need to get the salt content right... however, i have to say the same can be done with swimming.

The neti pot goes against the theory with swimming b/c u are taught not to breathe through your nose and but through your mouth and water goes into your nose. So, when you swim, I often notice, (quite disgustingly) its like a nose irrigation b/c all the sick stuff in your nose comes out during, and after you swim. Then, my nose seems to be more clear.

With a neti pot, I stuck it into my nose with my head leaning forward... so i have that sensation of somewhat snorting water.... that kind of feeling when ur in a swimming pool and then water comes out slowly through the side. First time I used it, and I managed to get some stuff cleansed from nose... from what I can see, its just some boogies... and mucus. I tried both nose.... i have to say, it didnt feel great.... nor too terrible. I think its going to be some getting used to...

The results are that my nose seems to be more clear... but i think im still somewhat congested... I have that issue which one of my nostrils seems to be always stuck.... and other is very clear.... i think its still the same.

I see nasal pulse on amazon and it didnt get a great response. For anyone who went to taiwan, it seems like going to see a neck and throat doctor and cleaning up your nose. It feels great after... may want to give that a try.

Neti pot over all feels like sound nasal irrigation, a lil messy at my first time, and I havent felt the full effects yet and i think its worth a try but not a cure for all your nasal, sinus problems.

Read the instructions carefully for the amount of salt to add. I made a mistake and used way too much, ouch! I was also so severely congested, I had to use the neti pot a couple times to get results. Since then, I try to use it as needed and it seems to really help. Received the product in a decent amount of time.

I used this last night for the first time. It was easier than I thought. I was worried about the water entering my throat and chocking. This was not an issue.

The first attempt seemed to burn a bit so I reduced the amount of salt--even though I was sure I did not use more than recommended.

I remember commenting about 25 times that evening how clear my sinuses and had felt. I slept like two rocks!

I you constantly sniffle or have any sinus blockage you should give this a try.

I am sure the product treats what it is made for. However, I wish I knew better how to use it to the full effect. It took me a few days to use it correctly and I am still not good at it. I am just afraid the salt water might get into my brain or lungs although I know the chance is quite slim; I guess that is what the after use exercises are for. I am able to clear the excess mucus after use so I can feel the nose block subsides. I need to use it on both nostrils so for the moment I have not felt that the sinus headaches have gone away. I have been using it for 5 days.

Well, the Neti Pot does what is it supposed to, i.e., clears out your nasal passages. However, the process can be uncomfortable and even burns.
